The Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic in Sörmland is a county clinic with operations at the county's three hospitals. The pediatric clinic at Mälarsjukhuset consists of a neonatal ward, an emergency section with a pediatric and adolescent ward and pediatric emergency, a pediatric clinic, and a day care unit. Here, you get the advantages of smaller hospitals with a personal and close feeling, while we provide high-quality care and treatment. Mälarsjukhuset is located in a beautiful area near central Eskilstuna with good transport connections.

The Neonatal Ward

The neonatal ward cares for prematurely born children and children in need of care at the start of life. The ward has 12 beds, four of which are intensive care beds. We admit children from week 28 and have close cooperation with Uppsala University Hospital, where there is an opportunity to admit the very smallest extremely premature infants. From the ward, there is also a team working with home care as the final part of our care chain.

On the ward, we work with the vision "Children of Sörmland, safe in our hands" and strive to have high competence among employees and always focus on the family's right to be involved in the care of their child. Our commitment to the family is strong, and we aim for the least possible separation between children and parents throughout the entire care chain. The family is at the center and should receive the individual care and specific attention they are entitled to.

Within neonatal care, development and change work is constantly ongoing, so if you are interested in that, you will thrive with us.

We just moved into the newly built house in the spring, and our operations are now in new, fresh premises that are better adapted to the family-centered care we provide today. Our new premises provide better conditions for the least possible separation of children and parents throughout the care process, as the women's clinic with delivery and maternity ward are our closest neighbors. Right next to the beds in the intensive care unit, there are now parent rooms so parents can be close to their child. The work environment and the ward's spaces have been better adapted to our needs.

We are now looking for a nurse for day and evening shifts.

Your Responsibilities

As a nurse, you are responsible for the nursing care of the child/family, where child- and family-centered developmental support care is fundamental. Teamwork is important here; you collaborate closely with your colleagues on the ward, including nurses, assistant nurses, and doctors. The work is varied, involving both intensive care and family care.

As a new employee, you are offered an introduction of at least 8 weeks and to participate in the ward's introductory training within your first year, which many new employees have appreciated.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, preferably with experience. Further education in pediatric medicine or experience from working on a neonatal ward is meritorious but not a requirement.

As a person, you have good cooperation skills and enjoy challenges. You like responsibility, teamwork, and can prioritize and switch work pace based on the varying needs of the operations. We see that you have interest, willingness, and ability to handle medical technical equipment as well as an interest in intensive care.

If you join us as a basic graduate, we view it positively if you wish to specialize in pediatrics and adolescent medicine at a later stage.
