Description
The units within the Forestry Division work on investigations, development, and monitoring of core processes, external expert involvement, support to districts, and own case processing.
The Policy Unit is responsible for the core processes of policy development and sector collaboration. This involves, among other things, following up on and developing these processes to ensure they function efficiently, with quality assurance, and in line with the Swedish Forest Agency's operational strategy.
The unit plays a central role in analyzing, developing, and translating national and international forest policy to support the Agency's mandate. The unit operates in close interaction with the Government Offices, other authorities, research actors, and organizations within the forestry sector.
The unit works with:
- National and international policy development regarding the use of forests in the forestry sector and society at large, including climate and bioeconomy issues.
- Preparation of government assignments and national consultations.
- Coordination of reporting on the environmental quality objective "Living Forests" and participation in monitoring other relevant environmental goals.
- Implementation of the Agency's work on international development cooperation.
- Coordination of the implementation of regional development and rural policy.
- Preparing materials and assisting in the Agency's planning work.
Approximately 25 employees currently work at the unit, located from Hässleholm in the south to Luleå in the north.
Working as a Manager at the Swedish Forest Agency
As a manager within the Swedish Forest Agency, you have three roles. You are an employer representative, a leader, and an operational manager within your area of responsibility. In your function as head of unit, you lead the unit's work with responsibility for its operations, economy, and personnel.
You will be part of the Forestry Division's management group and are expected to contribute to the Agency's leadership and development from both an internal and external holistic perspective. Your duties also include being process responsible. This entails responsibility for shaping processes and providing materials for line management of implementation. You will work to contribute to the development of the Agency's strategic work within policy, sector collaboration, and operational development.

You have a genuine interest in working as a leader. This is characterized by a desire to create involvement, as well as to inspire and motivate your employees. You see opportunities in leading and developing a geographically dispersed unit.

You can see how policy development and external collaboration, together with other processes, collectively contribute to the implementation of politics.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have an academic degree in areas relevant to the operations, as well as experience of management with responsibility for personnel, operations, and budget.
It is meritorious if you have experience of operational development and knowledge within the forestry area. Knowledge and experience of administrative law and public sector administration is meritorious. You have a good ability to prioritize, create structure, and translate strategic goals into operations. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and leadership qualities.
What We Offer You
The Swedish Forest Agency applies fixed-term managerial appointments (up to 5 years with possibility of extension). Underlying this is a permanent position as a case processor at the Swedish Forest Agency.
Placement at one of the Swedish Forest Agency's offices. Location will be determined during the recruitment process. Start date by agreement.
We aim to first hold digital interviews via Teams between September 7–11.
