EU Work Coordinator – Region Sörmland

About Us

Region Sörmland is responsible for ensuring that the residents of Södermanland have access to equal, high-quality healthcare and dental care, a well-functioning public transport system, a rich cultural offering, and a good environment. Region Sörmland also has the government's mandate to drive regional development work and coordinate development efforts in areas such as spatial planning, infrastructure, business, tourism, and competence supply. Together, we strengthen Södermanland and create a gender-equal and equitable society where people live good lives with good health.

Your Responsibilities

Do you want to be part of developing Region Sörmland's EU work? If so, you should apply for this coordinating and operational role to strengthen the link between Södermanland and the EU.

In your role as coordinator, you will coordinate and develop the EU work, largely based on-site in Brussels. You will become part of Region Sörmland's business area Sustainable Regional Development and the unit Strategy and Analysis.

The position is new and involves contributing to the development and strengthening of Region Sörmland's EU work within the regional development mandate. The assignment is varied, with many contact surfaces and close work with other Swedish Brussels offices. You identify and match relevant calls within EU funds and programs with Södermanland's challenges and needs. An important long-term goal is to match relevant networks and support actors in Södermanland in navigating the EU system and identifying opportunities for cooperation and funding.

You coordinate and actively participate in internal knowledge development to strengthen Region Sörmland's competence regarding the EU and contribute to the development of Region Sörmland's operations. You enjoy working in a service-oriented and communicative role. You contribute to knowledge exchange, visibility, and collaboration. The responsibilities also include planning and conducting seminars, meetings, study visits, and other activities both in Brussels and in Södermanland.

The work also involves participating in joint EU work within, for example, East Central Sweden (ÖMS) and linking the Regional Development Strategy (RUS) with EU work. In your role, you collaborate closely with other competencies and functions within Region Sörmland and with external actors.

Environmental scanning, reporting back strategic relevant information, internal and external communication, follow-up, and evaluation are parts of the work.

Your Qualifications

You have a relevant academic degree. We are looking for you who have good knowledge of the regional development mandate as well as the EU's cohesion policy. We would like you to have several years of experience from the regional development mandate and/or good knowledge of the business promotion and innovation support system.

You want to contribute to sustainable societal development and have a background in working in a challenge-driven manner and can navigate issues from multiple perspectives. You are curious, have a good holistic view, and see development opportunities and synergies that you can convey and anchor with others. You have an analytical approach and understand the responsibilities, roles, and perspectives related to the regional development mandate. Experience of leading change work and driving your own projects is a plus. We would like you to enjoy making new contacts, thrive in social environments, and want to develop professional relationships in an international context.

You have a good ability to keep processes together and collaborate. You need to be able to independently plan and prioritize the work and be comfortable taking initiative and driving the work forward. As a person, you are flexible and have the ability to lead and participate in assignments and projects, drive processes to solve identified challenges or set goals. You are pedagogical and can describe complex issues and connections in an understandable way. You have a very good ability to express yourself both orally and in writing in Swedish and English and understand how to adapt your communication to different target groups and are comfortable giving presentations. Proficiency in the Office package and other administrative and digital tools is a requirement.

Merits:
