Job Description

We work every day to ensure the municipality's operations run smoothly. The catering department prepares approximately 2,200 meals daily for preschools, schools, and elderly care in Säffle Municipality. Our goal is to provide all diners with a delicious, varied, and nutritious meal. The food is largely made from locally produced and fair-trade ingredients and prepared from scratch. To carry out this mission successfully, we need substitutes who can step in for permanent staff, and that is where you come in.

Responsibilities

You will be employed as a substitute in our Staffing Unit. Working as a substitute means you may be assigned to various kitchens within Säffle Municipality. Our assignments in the Catering Department sometimes also include cleaning tasks. Depending on your experience and education, you may work as a cook or a meal assistant. The work involves preparing all meals and side dishes, including special diets, salad preparation, self-control work, ordering, serving, dishwashing, cleaning, and other common tasks in a large kitchen. As a substitute, you are part of the team and will carry out the duties of permanent staff on behalf of the operations manager during their leave, illness, or other absence.

Basic knowledge of the Swedish language is crucial for following instructions, ensuring special diets, and understanding and handling chemicals.

Your Profile

You have knowledge and interest in good, home-produced, and nutritious meals where the guest and dining environment are central. Environmental awareness is also highly valued. You can work independently, efficiently, and are customer-oriented with a strong sense of service. As a person, you are calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interaction with customers, and you have the interest, willingness, and ability to collaborate. You take responsibility for your tasks and are good at organizing and planning your work. Since effective communication between the kitchen and the customer is important, it is vital that you can speak, understand, and read Swedish. You will work at many different workplaces, so you need to be flexible, communicative, receptive, and adaptable. Together with your colleagues, you will make a difference in the daily lives of many and create memories that you will carry with you throughout your professional life.

You can work regularly as a substitute. We need hourly substitutes in all the municipality's kitchens and therefore expect you to be mobile to work both in central Säffle and in nearby small towns. Therefore, you should have a driver's license and access to a car. The joy of being a substitute is the opportunity to work at many different workplaces and get to know many colleagues.

Education and Suitability

You have at least 1 year of restaurant and large-scale kitchen education or other education deemed equivalent by the employer, as well as HACCP training and allergy and special diet training. You also need previous experience in cleaning and basic computer skills to work with us. We place great emphasis on your personal suitability.
