Job Description
Are you a social worker with experience and a desire to work with young people? Welcome to Plattform Malmö!
We target young adults, adolescents, their parents, those at risk of offending, and individuals wishing to leave crime and harmful substance use/addiction. There is now an opportunity to work for one year within the section of Social Secretaries at the Police and Youth Service.
In this position, your primary responsibility will be to enforce the penalty of Youth Service. Youth Service can be sentenced instead of fines or other penalties for young offenders aged between 15 and 21. Youth Service is a penalty consisting partly of unpaid work and partly of conversations with a social secretary at the Youth Service. The reflective conversations are individual and give the young person the opportunity to reflect on their situation and the crime or crimes for which they have been convicted. Youth Service aims to be crime-preventive. The conversations therefore largely focus on discussing methods to avoid crime. In your work, you coordinate and enforce the penalty imposed by the District Court as an alternative to fines or shorter periods of deprivation of liberty. We have close cooperation with several workplaces, and you will consequently be in contact with our dedicated supervisors. You will also work on finding new supervisors.
The assignment also includes work at the police station, where your main task is to collaborate between social services and the police. This means that as a social secretary, you will attend interrogations of young people under 18 and conduct conversations with the young person and their parents after the interrogation. The work also involves meeting with detained young people in the detention center every week. The purpose is to quickly gain an understanding of the young person's needs and promptly relay this information to social services. You also have administrative responsibilities, including staffing the joint phone line, participating in certain regular police meetings, relaying incoming information to relevant parties, and planning the operations.
Operational development is a natural part of the work, and Lean is used as a tool for this. Documentation in Lifecare and Journal Digital is also part of your duties.
You will become part of a dedicated team consisting of four colleagues with similar assignments and areas of responsibility. Together, you will work closely together and support each other in daily work.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree in social work and experience in public authority operations within child and family services with a focus on young people. We also want you to have very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish.
The following are considered meritorious for the position:
- Education in "Crime as a Lifestyle"
- Experience in conversations with both young people and adults, preferably from a solution-focused approach
- Knowledge of LUL (Act with Special Provisions for Young Offenders)
- Knowledge of crime, drugs, and vulnerability to crime
- Experience and knowledge of risk and protective factors
- Experience and knowledge of the judicial system
- Experience working in Procapita/Lifecare or Journal Digital
- Driver's license and driving experience with manual transmission vehicles
As a person, we see that you, the applicant, are secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. You feel secure in having conversations with both young people, young adults, and adults, and find it easy to collaborate both internally and externally. The position involves a lot of teamwork, so high demands are placed on collaboration skills.
To thrive in the role, it is important that you are self-reliant and can plan, organize, and drive your work forward independently. In the work, you will meet people with different experiences and backgrounds, so it is important that you are receptive and can listen to the person you meet to create good contact. It is also important that you adapt easily to changed circumstances, and that you can focus on the right things and maintain a realistic perspective even at a high pace.
