Welcome to Sundsvall Municipality!

Sundsvall Municipality is one of the largest employers in Northern Sweden, with around 8,000 employees and over 300 professions. Together, we fulfill one of society's most important missions – creating utility and value for residents, businesses, and future generations. Regardless of the department, we work towards the same goal: to be a great place to live, work, and thrive.

We are currently in an exciting phase of development. We are a driving force in digital development and artificial intelligence, and together we create smart solutions for the people of Sundsvall today and in the future.

We are facing major transitions to meet citizens' needs in the long term – do you want to be part of this journey?

Do you have a passion for innovation and public benefit? Do you want to work with the latest technologies while safeguarding the welfare state? Then we are looking for you!

Your new workplace

At Sundsvall Municipality, we think a little differently when it comes to digitalization and IT. We promote courage, innovation, and adaptability, deliver with quality, and share what we do. At the same time, we set clear demands on the industry to work with modern, future-proof technology and open, shared solutions. This has earned us the title of "Sweden's Digitalization Municipality" in 2021, and in 2024, our IT Director was named CIO of the Year by Dagens Industri.

How you contribute as a System Administrator

As a Solution Architect for the Modern Workplace, you have overall technical responsibility for the entire digital workplace in Sundsvall and Ånge municipalities (approximately 8,000 and 1,000 employees respectively) – around 10,000 computers with accessories and 7,000 phones and phone solutions. You work at a tactical and strategic level and set the technical direction for the entire area. A group of approximately eight people – team leaders, object managers, and system administrators – are responsible for operational delivery, and you are their architectural support and sounding board.

Your mission

You drive technical development and are responsible for, among other things:

  • Target architecture and technical principles: client platform (Windows 11, Intune), Microsoft 365, telephony, printing, and meeting rooms.
  • Technical roadmap and lifecycle: from implementation to decommissioning.
  • Security and regulatory compliance: including the Cyber Security Act and GDPR, in collaboration with the CISO.
  • Licensing and efficiency management: cost-effective solutions within Microsoft 365.
  • Vendor management: requirements setter and technical sounding board towards vendors.
  • Standardization: a common, scalable platform for both municipalities.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for you who have a relevant higher education or university degree in IT, or other education and experience that the employer assesses as equivalent and relevant for the position.

You have several years of experience as a solution architect, IT architect, or in a senior technical responsible role within a modern digital workplace (EUC) in a larger organization. You have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft's workplace ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID with conditional access, Intune/Endpoint Manager, as well as client platforms such as Windows 11 and Autopilot.

Furthermore, you have experience in creating target architectures, technical standards, and roadmaps, and translating these into practice together with administration and operations organizations. The role also requires a good understanding of security in the workplace area, such as Microsoft Defender and Zero Trust principles, as well as how the architecture meets requirements within information security and data protection.

You have experience in setting requirements and managing vendors at a technical level and have good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

It is meritorious if you have the following qualifications:

  • Experience from the public sector and its regulations, such as the Public Procurement Act (LOU) and the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act.
  • Knowledge of telephony and switchboards, printing solutions, and meeting room technology.
  • Experience in license management and efficiency and cost control for Microsoft 365.
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted tools in daily work.

Who are you?

You have a broad holistic view and are confident in justifying technical choices. You can explain complex solutions clearly to both management and specialists. You are proactive, take responsibility for your work, and drive your tasks forward. You collaborate well with others, contribute to a good work climate, and work in a structured and pedagogical manner. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
