The Kidney and Transplantation Department is part of the Business Area (VO) for Nephrology, Rheumatology, and Endocrinology. The department is a hybrid unit where we care for patients who are to be or have been transplanted, as well as patients within nephrology. During the autumn, we have started caring for Hospitalist patients from surgery and urology. In other words, an exciting mix that gives you broad competence.

Within nephrology, we care for patients with both acute and chronic diseases. Examples of diagnoses include vasculitis, nephrotic syndrome, various forms of nephritis, and more. We help patients gain access (catheter insertion) prior to starting dialysis and address issues with existing accesses. Transplant surgery consists of both planned and acute kidney transplants. Sometimes we also care for patients before and after pancreas transplants. Another important part is treating rejection problems after transplantation. It is very rewarding to follow a severely kidney-diseased patient who has been transplanted and then leaves the department with a functioning kidney again. The department currently has 24 care beds on weekdays and 18 on weekends, with plans to open up to 24 beds throughout the week, starting in autumn 2026.

The department is located in the new hospital on the ninth floor with a fantastic view over Malmö. The activity has grown significantly over the past year to meet the future needs of kidney care. All patients have single rooms. Everything is new and modern regarding facilities, equipment, and working methods, which leads to new opportunities to develop the operations. WORK ASSIGNMENTS

On our department, we work in teams consisting of one nurse and one assistant nurse. Each team is responsible for six to seven patients together with the responsible medical team, and together you plan the tasks for the shift. Support functions such as coordinators, operations staff, physiotherapists, pharmacists, dietitians, and social workers are also part of the staff. Patients arrive both electively and urgently, so the pace and workload may vary throughout the hours of the day.

As a new employee, you will receive an individual introduction based on your existing competence. If you have previous experience, we adapt the introduction to your prerequisites. If you are a newly graduated nurse, you are offered a seven-week introduction containing both theory and practice within both nephrology and transplant care.

The activity offers you a varied, stimulating, and educational workplace where you are given the opportunity for personal development and education. Since development is important to us, we would like you to be involved in the department's continued development work. Competence development takes place continuously both internally and externally.

We work two weekends out of five and have a fixed schedule. We are looking for a nurse for duty preferably during day/evening shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with permission to work within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are a requirement for the position. Experience working within nephrology and/or transplant surgery is meritorious but not a requirement.

You have a humble approach towards both patients and colleagues, are positive, engaged, flexible, and wish to develop in your professional role.
