Vocational Teacher for Brogymnasiet in Kristinehamn

Brogymnasiet in Kristinehamn is now looking for a vocational teacher with broad professional competence who wants to help develop education for students within the introductory programs. The position is primarily aimed at students who need a more practical, work-oriented, and individualized path to working life.

The education may be organized as vocational packages or in an apprenticeship-like format, where students have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills within one or more vocational areas. A possible profile for the position is property maintenance, but other vocational areas may also be relevant. The important thing is that we can offer young people a meaningful and motivating education that strengthens their vocational competence and increases their opportunities to move on to work, practice, apprenticeships, or further studies.

Brogymnasiet is a workplace characterized by clear teamwork where the student is at the center. Students need support to succeed in both the practical and theoretical parts of the education, and you will have an important role in the work team. Together we create a safe learning environment where students can develop, strengthen their self-esteem, and approach working life.

At Brogymnasiet, there are several national programs, introductory programs, and adapted upper secondary school. The school has approximately 620 students and 80 competent employees. There is a well-developed student health organization.

Our goal is that the school's students should receive a pleasant and personal treatment and always meet professional and competent adults who help them reach as far as possible. The school's development work is based, among other things, on formative teaching and assessment, language-developing approaches, collegial learning, and early interventions for students in need of support. One of the school's focus areas is working with motivation-enhancing measures for our students.

Job Responsibilities

Your tasks are to teach, guide, and support students in their vocational development. You will primarily work with students within the introductory programs, where the education may have the character of vocational introduction, vocational packages, or apprenticeship-like setups.

The assignment includes giving students basic vocational knowledge, training practical moments, and contributing to them developing a professional attitude towards the demands of working life. The teaching may, for example, concern material knowledge, tools, simpler repairs, service, maintenance, safety, working environment, customer treatment, and professional responsibility.

An important part of the position is to create structure, motivation, and context for students who need a clear connection between school and working life. The goal is for students to have the opportunity to develop vocational knowledge, feel motivated, and see a realistic path forward towards work or further education. Therefore, you need to be able to adapt the teaching to students' different needs, experiences, and prerequisites.

You will be involved in arranging workplace practice (APL) placements, follow up, and act as support for both students and supervisors. Since students' workplace practice can take place within many vocational areas, you need to be flexible, collaboration-oriented, and have an easy time building good relationships with workplaces and companies.

Depending on your competence, teaching may also become relevant within other vocational programs at the school.
