The Health and Social Care Administration provides service, support, care, and assistance to the elderly and people with disabilities, and is responsible for official duties according to current legislation. The administration operates within elderly care, LSS (Law on Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments), social psychiatry, health and medical care, next-of-kin support, and official duties. All work is performed with the citizen in focus, based on our core values: respectful treatment, participation, trust, and security. Job Responsibilities

As a contact person, you are primarily a fellow human being – someone who is there as support, companionship, and security in everyday life. You function as a friend to talk to, a person who listens, gives advice on everyday matters, and encourages a more active and social life outside the home. Together, you do things that feel fun and meaningful, all with the goal of reducing the social isolation that can occur.

You meet four times a month, usually for four hours per occasion. When you meet, what you do, and where you go are decided jointly based on the person's interests and needs.

The assignment is voluntary, but you receive remuneration and expense compensation according to SKR's guidelines as compensation for your effort.

Being a contact person means you make an important and valuable difference in another person's daily life – an effort that can create security, joy, and increased quality of life.

About the Client

A 68-year-old man with severe visual impairment needs support to break his social isolation and create more meaningful contact points in daily life.

He particularly enjoys taking walks in the forest, eating at restaurants, and making excursions or shopping in Stockholm. These activities give him both joy and security, and serve as natural ways to get out and meet people.

He also appreciates having his mail opened and read aloud, which simplifies daily life and reduces stress regarding information he otherwise has difficulty accessing.

Qualifications

No special education is required to be a contact person. What is important is that you are sensitive, organized, and empathetic, and that you have a calm demeanor, great patience, and are good at motivating.

You should have a strong commitment to people and a desire to create a relationship that lasts for a longer period.
