The Role of Personal Assistant

As a personal assistant, you represent Hela Sveriges Assistans. In this role, you will complete a web-based training course on what it is like to work as a personal assistant. Together with the client and your colleagues, you will strive for high quality and adhere to the company's values and policies.

As a personal assistant, you are responsible for reviewing information sent from the headquarters and, if necessary, seeking information available on the website. For other matters, you should contact your supervisor or the headquarters.

About Your Role as a Personal Assistant to Me

I am a woman in her 60s living in an apartment in central Malmö. I use an electric wheelchair due to a muscle disease and need help in daily life with ADL (Activities of Daily Living) and all household chores such as laundry, cleaning, etc. I can do some things myself, but this varies depending on my condition on any given day – you will help with the rest.

It is important that you are sensitive, responsible, and unpretentious, and that you want to see and understand my needs. You work proactively, and we help each other keep an overview of daily life. Communication is key; a positive mindset and humor are also highly valued.

I have a dog, and dog training is a large part of my daily life. It is important that you are interested and willing to learn. We take courses, train, and go on long dog walks. Having prior dog experience is a plus, but otherwise, I will teach you.

You must have a driver's license and driving experience. I have a car, a regular bicycle, and a cargo bike that you should be able to handle.

The application must include a complete CV and a cover letter. Before an employment offer is made, you must show an extract from the police criminal record.

Where is the assistance provided?

The assistance is provided wherever I am, and your shift starts and ends where I am – at home or out in the city.

Job Description

1 position, scheduled for 80–100%.

The position involves varying working hours during the day/evening, weekends, and awake nights.

We are also looking for hourly employees and summer substitutes.

Requirements

• Category B driver's license.
• Ability to ride a bicycle.
• Fluency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
• As the workplace has a dog, you must not be allergic to dogs.
• Experience working as a personal assistant.

Merits

We prefer that you have at least 2 years of experience as a personal assistant. Dog experience is preferred as there is an assistance dog. Also, experience working with a ventilator and cough assist machine is valued.

Before we offer employment, you must show an unopened extract/digital mailbox extract from the police criminal record. We also require a valid Swedish work permit, for example, a passport or an approved work permit from the Swedish Migration Agency.

We train our employees to ensure the quality of personal assistance. All our new employees complete a web-based introductory training for personal assistants before their first shift, or no later than one month after the start of employment.
