SPIDER (the Swedish Program for ICT in Developing Regions) is an independent center at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV), Stockholm University, focusing on the digitalization of international development cooperation.

We are now looking for a Portuguese-speaking project coordinator for an international project where we contribute to the global sustainability goals through capacity building in telecommunications regulation and digitalization.

The role focuses specifically on coordinating, organizing, and leading the work related to the Portuguese-speaking part of the project. You will serve as a key link between SPIDER, project managers, partners, and participants, responsible for planning, monitoring, and contributing to the implementation of activities in a structured and solution-oriented manner.

We are looking for you who are an experienced coordinator, speak fluent Portuguese, and thrive in international and multilingual contexts. You are a creative problem solver who wants to contribute to developing SPIDER's working methods in the project and in similar future initiatives. You do not necessarily need to have worked in the same sector before. We are a multidisciplinary team where different backgrounds, perspectives, and competencies are valued.

Responsibilities

The role of project coordinator includes:

  • being responsible for the preparation and handling of project initiatives in SPIDER's Portuguese-speaking partner countries, and building relationships and collaborating with European counterparts
  • planning, administering, monitoring, documenting, and evaluating project results
  • budget monitoring of project collaborations, including the annual audit
  • compilation, analysis, and dissemination of results from SPIDER-supported initiatives
  • supporting the development of SPIDER's networks in Portuguese-speaking African countries as well as at the EU level
  • contributing to seeking funding from various funders for SPIDER's activities
  • representing SPIDER's involvement in the project at various national and international digitalization events and conferences
  • preparing events and training initiatives in project management for Portuguese-speaking events
  • designing, delivering, and evaluating workshops in project management with a results focus (experience with RBM is advantageous).

Other administrative tasks within the center may occur. International travel for work purposes is expected.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • academic degree or equivalent experience acquired in a relevant field, e.g., global development, sociology, law
  • at least seven years of relevant work experience
  • experience working with national/regional cooperation at the EU/AU level
  • excellent understanding of international relations and development work
  • good knowledge of the Office suite, especially Excel
  • good communication skills and expresses yourself well orally and in writing in Portuguese, Swedish, and English.

  • experience from Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa, PALOP.

About the Employment

The employment is permanent on a full-time basis with a six-month probation period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.
