Sydöstra Jämtlands Pastorat consists of 16 parishes in the municipalities of Bergs, Östersund, Bräcke, and Ragunda. The staff of the pastorate work where the present meets history; from the ski resort of Klövsjö, the gold medal village of cross-country skiing Åsarna, the Torvalla district in Östersund, to the area where the "Wild Men" once created Döda Fallet.

We are now looking for an Associate Minister (Komminister) for the Southern area, responsible for the Åsarna and Rätan-Klövsjö parishes.

As an Associate Minister with us, you will work in a rural community where the church remains a natural gathering place throughout all stages of life.

Here, your relationship with the congregation will be personal – you will follow families through generations.

The work as a priest in the area is characterized by closeness; you will meet parishioners at the grocery store, on the ski tracks, on village roads, and in the parish hall. You will conduct services in churches that hold history in their walls, while also having the space to shape a vibrant and relevant parish life for today. In our villages, community engagement is strong.

In Rätan–Klövsjö and Åsarna, you will enjoy a high quality of life with nature right at your doorstep. Mountains, forests, and lakes frame daily life, offering space for silence and recovery that can strengthen both your own spiritual life and your encounters with others. The proximity to the mountain, with ski slopes, ski tracks, and snowmobile trails in winter, as well as hiking trails for quiet walking, running, and cycling during the snow-free season, makes it easy to live well alongside your calling.

You will become an integral part of a parish with strong community spirit and great trust in the local area. There is room for personal encounters, for conversations that take time, and for worship life where presence and participation are central. You will work in an area where people know each other, where the church means a lot to many, and where your presence makes a real difference.

Your workplace will be in Hoverberg, where we have chosen to gather our staff in the southern operational area. The job includes traditional priestly duties such as conducting services, performing church ceremonies, and working with confirmation and youth activities. It is a requirement that you are ordained in the Church of Sweden and hold a B-driver’s license with access to your own car.

We are actively working to develop the three pilgrimage routes that run through the parishes in the pastorate, of which the Kårböleleden and Jämt-Norgevägen routes pass through our area. For those interested in pilgrimage, there are good opportunities to develop the pilgrimage concept in this priestly role. We would welcome it if you wish to continue promoting and deepening our Sami work and Sami church life in our parishes.

To succeed in the role, we see that you are secure in your self-image, in your mission, and in your faith/worldview. You understand, care for, and appreciate smaller contexts. We assume that you are curious and have a desire to meet people in different life situations, that you are creative and take initiative, and that you are receptive to your colleagues.

We are looking for someone who creates and maintains good relationships, who can organize and set boundaries both for yourself and in the operations. We also see that you are engaged in the confirmation working group, which is a pastorate-wide working group.
