Occupational Therapist for Cancer Rehabilitation Team at Mälarsjukhuset, Eskilstuna
About Us
The Cancer Rehabilitation Team admits adult patients in need of advanced-level rehabilitation who are undergoing or have undergone cancer treatment. Most patients in the team have a complex symptom picture requiring multidisciplinary rehabilitation through coordinated interventions. The team works with rehabilitation plans to set individual goals for the rehabilitation period together with the patient.
The team receives patients from all over Sörmland and offers both in-person visits at Mälarsjukhuset and digital appointments. The focus is on helping the patient achieve the best possible daily life in different areas of life. This includes interventions that can contribute to increased quality of life and maintaining or regaining the best possible functional and activity capacity.
The team includes an occupational therapist, dietitian, physiotherapist, social worker, and team coordinator, with consultants such as a lymphedema therapist and sexologist. In addition to patient care, the team works on continuous development of the operations. The occupational therapist in the team is currently on parental leave, and we are therefore looking for a substitute.

In Region Sörmland, you are offered among other things:
- Wellness allowance of 5,000 SEK (for the year 2026).
- Flexible working hours agreement.
- Opportunities for competence development.

Your Responsibilities
The occupational therapist is a key resource in the team, working with motivational and supportive interventions to help people with cancer regain their previous activity capacity as much as possible and strive for activity balance, despite the effects of illness and treatment. The occupational therapist looks at activity patterns, habits, routines, and roles that affect activity performance in areas such as ADL (Activities of Daily Living), leisure, and work/studies. Common interventions when consulting an occupational therapist may include advice on cancer-related fatigue, sleep hygiene, activity imbalance, chemotherapy-induced neuropathies, or other symptoms affecting daily activities.
In addition to close teamwork, the team collaborates with other units and works to spread knowledge about cancer rehabilitation within the region. Part of the work therefore involves being able to give presentations for educational purposes. We are now looking for you who have a good ability and interest in working in a team and taking responsibility for your own tasks in a structured manner. You should be able to stand before both large and small groups and represent the team. Experience with cancer patients is desirable but not a requirement.
