Your Role

At Saab in Lund, we work with advanced underwater technology to develop the marine defense of the future. Within Ship Automation Submarine, we develop ship monitoring and control systems for submarines, where we are responsible for system architecture and component selection to ensure the submarine's functionality. We also develop software and user interfaces to control and monitor a range of different systems on board.

Working within Ship Automation Submarine means you are involved in developing solutions that span the entire lifecycle of the submarine – from early concept studies to finished and delivered products. As a technology-leading company, we also invest a significant portion of our revenue in research and development.

As a Software Systems Engineer, you will work with automation systems in both new-build and modernization projects for submarines. The role can involve overall responsibility as a system owner, with responsibility for design, requirement fulfillment, documentation, commissioning, and verification, or be more focused on software with an emphasis on implementation, testing, and documentation. The work is done in close collaboration with colleagues in the team as well as with other disciplines, such as design, IT architecture, and system security. In this role, you will become part of a team of approximately 20 automation engineers where collaboration is in focus, with a good mix of women and men as well as both younger and more experienced colleagues. Please note that travel may occur in the position, primarily to Karlskrona.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who enjoy communicating with others and working in teams to find solutions, but also have the ability to work independently and deliver on time. You have insight into your own strengths and areas for improvement, are humble, and have a great curiosity to learn new things.

To succeed in the role, we would like you to have:

• A Master of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent education, along with a few years of experience in systems work or software development, preferably within automation.
• The ability to quickly get up to speed with new tools and work efficiently in collaboration with others.
• Good communication skills and a habit of working both at a detailed level and with a holistic perspective.
• A drive to continuously develop in your professional role.
• Good ability to express yourself in both speech and writing in Swedish and English, with experience handling technical and formal language.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience in programming.
• Knowledge in system design and/or requirements management.

The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to the current regulations for security clearance. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
