About Us
Counselors in specialized care in Sörmland are organized in a joint counseling unit within the Rehabilitation Clinic of Sörmland. The Rehabilitation Clinic's task is to create the best possible well-being and quality of life for patients in need of rehabilitation. In total, 30 counselors work in the county, distributed across Mälarsjukhuset, Kullbergska sjukhuset, and Nyköpings Lasarett.

Your Responsibilities
The work as a counselor involves providing psychosocial support to patients and relatives. The role also includes staying updated and informed about societal resources and participating in various collaboration forums to provide patients with the best possible care.
You play an important role in the collaboration with other staff categories to contribute a holistic perspective on the patient's life situation. Relief conversations with other staff categories may also occur.
The counselor's task is to complement medical care with psychosocial knowledge from a holistic view. In your assignment, you offer psychosocial support to patients and their loved ones. This can involve conversations in various forms, such as individual, couple, or family sessions. The focus of the conversation can be supportive, crisis-oriented, processing, or existential.
We have a special focus on children as relatives and their needs.
The work may also include leading various group activities.
The counselor also has a coordinating function, acting as a link between healthcare and the surrounding society, as well as conveying information about social legislation and various forms of societal support.
The main assignment in the position is at the children's clinic, where you meet children, adolescents, and their parents and/or other relatives for conversations based on diagnoses the young person has received. This can include, among other things, diabetes, heart diseases, cancer, or other non-chronic diseases. The assignment also includes the neonatal unit where premature babies are treated. Here too, you have both outpatient and inpatient contact.
You will also meet certain patients from the Women's Clinic. These patients seek care, among other things, for anxiety during pregnancy, ambivalence regarding a pregnancy, or having experienced a miscarriage, as well as patients who have been diagnosed with gynecological cancer. The conversations take place in both outpatient and inpatient care.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work. We would like you to have experience of counseling work within healthcare and basic psychotherapy competence (step 1), but this is not a requirement. The work requires independence and good teamwork skills. You need to be flexible and able to take initiative. You are accustomed to actively participating in various forms of collaboration and have an interest in development and change work. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
A Category B driver's license is required.
