About Us

Social workers in specialist care in Sörmland are organized in a joint social work unit within the Rehabilitation Clinic Sörmland. The Rehabilitation Clinic's task is to create the best possible well-being and quality of life for patients in need of rehabilitation. In total, 30 social workers work in the county, distributed between Mälarsjukhuset, Kullbergska sjukhuset, and Nyköpings lasarett.

Your Responsibilities

The work as a social worker involves providing psychosocial support to patients and relatives. The role also includes staying updated and informed about societal resources and participating in various collaboration forums to provide patients with the best possible care.

You play a key role in the collaboration with other staff categories to contribute a holistic perspective on the patient's life situation. Supportive conversations with other staff categories may also occur.

The social worker's task is to complement medical care with psychosocial knowledge from a holistic view. In your assignment, you offer psychosocial support to patients and their loved ones. This may involve conversations in various forms such as individual conversations, couple counseling, or family sessions. The focus of the conversation can be supportive, crisis intervention, processing, or existential.

We have a special focus on children as relatives and their needs.

The work may also include facilitating various group activities.

The social worker also has a coordinating function, acting as a link between healthcare and the surrounding society, as well as conveying information about social legislation and various forms of societal support.

The main assignment in the position is at the pediatric clinic where you meet children, adolescents, and their parents and/or other relatives for conversations based on diagnoses the young person has received. This can include diabetes, heart diseases, cancer, or other non-chronic diseases. The assignment also includes the neonatal unit where premature babies are treated. Here, you also have both outpatient and inpatient contacts.

You will also meet certain patients from the Women's Clinic. These patients seek care for anxiety during pregnancy, ambivalence regarding pregnancy, have experienced a miscarriage, or have been diagnosed with gynecological cancer. The conversations take place both in outpatient and inpatient care.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work (Social Worker). We prefer that you have experience of social work within healthcare and that you have basic psychotherapy competence (step 1), but this is not a requirement. The work requires independence and good teamwork skills. You need to be flexible and able to take initiative. You are accustomed to actively participating in various forms of collaboration and have an interest in development and change work. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

A valid driver's license (Category B) is required.
