WE WANT SWEDEN'S HAPPIEST RESIDENTS. ARE YOU WITH US?
In Flens Municipality, we are investing in building something long-term. A society where people thrive, grow, and stay. Our new and bold vision, Flen – Sweden's Happiest Municipality, is more than just words. It is a direction we have chosen together and a reminder of who we are here for. In every meeting with a resident, in every decision we make, in every day we shape – we should think with our hearts. And it starts with us. We are now looking for two social secretaries for the Economic Assistance Unit.
HERE ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
As a social secretary with us, you work with investigating, assessing, deciding on, and following up on the right to economic assistance according to the Social Services Act (SoL). You are responsible for a legally secure handling throughout the entire process and make decisions according to current legislation, guidelines, and delegation orders. An important part of the assignment is to support and motivate people towards self-sufficiency, for example through work, studies, or labor market measures.
In your work, you meet people in different life situations, such as unemployment, homelessness, or addiction issues. You collaborate closely with colleagues and external actors, such as the Swedish Public Employment Service and other partners, to create conditions for sustainable change.
You work based on current legislation and proven experience, with the goal of providing the right intervention to the right person at the right time. A natural part of the assignment is to treat people with respect, sensitivity, and professionalism, and to involve them in their own process. Our starting point is that every person has resources and the ability to take steps towards increased independence – and you are an important part of that work.
FOR THIS ROLE, YOU MUST HAVE:
- Education as a social worker or behavioral scientist, or alternatively other education that the National Board of Health and Welfare assesses as equivalent.
- A valid driver's license (Category B).
- Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
WE VALUE THE FOLLOWING HIGHLY:
- Experience of public authority enforcement within economic assistance.
YOUR PERSONAL QUALITIES
We believe that you are a person who is curious, flexible, and confident in meeting people in different life situations. You have a respectful and professional approach and are humble regarding the challenges people may face.
You have a strong commitment to the target group and a clear belief in people's own ability to change. With empathy, sensitivity, and a good view of humanity, you build trusting relationships while remaining secure in your authority role. With us, it is important that you want to contribute, collaborate, and make a difference – both for the individual and for society as a whole.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
WHY WORK WITH US?
In Flens Municipality, we want to give you good conditions to thrive both at and outside of work. We offer, among other things, holiday swapping, health subsidies, and reimbursement for patient fees up to the high-cost protection – and there are more benefits than that. Many of our workplaces also have good commuting opportunities. You can read more about what it is like to work with us on the municipality's website: flen.se.
READY TO APPLY?
We recruit based on competence and do not read cover letters. Apply by attaching your CV, any certificates, and answering the selection questions. As an applicant, you are responsible for clearly documenting your competence in your answers to the questions, as these form the basis for our assessment. Be careful to answer in detail and avoid referring to your CV.
During the interview, you need to show valid identification, such as a passport or national ID card. A driver's license together with a certificate of personal data (downloaded via the Swedish Tax Agency) is also acceptable. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you need to show that you have a valid work permit or that you are exempt from the requirement.
About the position:
- Scope: Full-time, permanent (probation may apply).
- Start date: According to agreement.
- Salary: Individual salary setting.
- Last application date: 2026-07-16.
- Interviews may take place continuously during the recruitment process.
