Do you want to work in an active preschool and after-school center (fritidshem) close to nature, with days filled with sports, play, and movement?

Blomenbergska School is a small, family-oriented village school in Lästringe. Education has been conducted here since 1889. For nearly 30 years, a parent association has run a preschool and after-school center on the premises. In 2011, the association took over the operation of the school, which now offers integrated teaching for grades F–5. We work closely with our families and receive immense support in our practical work in our facilities and outdoor environments. The families also organize several festive events for children and students throughout the year, contributing to a strong sense of community and belonging. Blomenbergska School is growing, and we are preparing to expand with grade six in the coming years.

This autumn, we are looking for additional staff for the after-school center, primarily for part-time work during mornings and afternoons. The position is currently an extra position that we hope will become a permanent position in the long term.

The identity of the after-school center has been built up over a long period and has a stable foundation with many appreciated and recurring activities. The students' participation builds confidence, and learning feels real and meaningful. At the same time, there is room to try and invent new things; everyone's knowledge and experience, both children's and adults', is valued.

The large schoolyard is varied, with different play equipment, football, and basketball courts, and is located in the middle of a beautiful natural landscape. In our planting boxes, we sow and care for what grows—both beautiful and delicious. Fruit from our fruit trees is utilized, and trips to the forest provide essential experience in handling pocket knives and cooking in an outdoor kitchen. As soon as it gets cold enough, our fantastic families skate a small ice rink for ice skating, and no one misses an opportunity to practice skiing or participate in the Vasaloppet on the fields outside the school.

Reading aloud, motivating students to read on their own, and helping everyone crack the reading code are important goals for both the school and the after-school center. The collaboration between the school and the after-school center is close, and several of the after-school center's staff members teach individual subjects or help in other ways during the school day.

For us, relationships are important, and we know that competence and personal ability are required for every student to feel safe, seen, and heard. We focus on high staff density, which comes with high expectations for everyone's work effort and professional attitude.

In this recruitment, we place high demands on competence and conscious self-leadership. The person we are looking for already has experience in meeting and handling challenging situations that may arise in school and after-school center group dynamics. You know how to guide individual students so they succeed and feel safe. You have documented experience in leading groups, both independently and together with colleagues. You can communicate and share experiences regarding good student interaction. You are energetic and forward-looking in all weather and seasons. You don't have to love snow mud, heavy rain, and strong winds, but we expect you to come well-equipped for your work shifts even on those days.

Together with the team, you build and develop the shared and individual responsibility for the after-school center as a whole, including pedagogical development, documentation, relational student work, and care for indoor and outdoor environments. You contribute with clarity, helpfulness, and a positive attitude towards work, students, and colleagues. In our daily work, we often have inexperienced hourly substitutes. They are appreciated but need support to grow into the work. You need to have the ability to provide support, maintain an overarching overview, and take responsibility for challenging situations. You guide in routines and frameworks and are a role model through your approach.

You are simply an experienced after-school leader or a dedicated childcare worker with a focus on after-school centers. You have professional pride and ambition—getting as close as one can get to a teacher in an after-school center without formal education or certification.

As part of the employment, you will need to show an extract from the criminal record register, as well as documents regarding school and education.

We believe the position would suit you perfectly if you are studying or for other reasons want to work short days at a place where you can contribute and develop together with wonderful colleagues in preschool, after-school centers, and school.

For those with the right experience, the position can be combined with teaching in one of the subjects: modern languages, textile crafts, or home economics. In the longer term, a smaller role as a social pedagogue may also become available.
