Do you want to be part of something bigger and contribute to sustainable development in Norrbotten, both within the county and towards the outside world?
We are now looking for you who have experience working with assessments of aquatic environments and thrive with varied tasks in a team that values job satisfaction and team spirit.
As an employee here, you are part of a larger context where you have the opportunity to contribute to sustainable societal development both in Norrbotten, nationally, and internationally.
About the job
The work consists of mapping the environmental status, impact, and need for measures in the county's aquatic environments. It involves describing the environmental status and collaborating internally and externally on water issues.
The work is varied, and you will be part of an experienced team where you share tasks and exchange experiences. Everyone in the team has different roles and expertise.
Common tasks include:
- Status classification, impact analysis, and assessment of need for measures according to the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management's regulations
- Work with the national plan for the review of hydropower
- Participate in internal consultations regarding water issues
- Collaboration with external actors
The work contains many stimulating tasks and good opportunities for personal development. We have an open work climate and value our job satisfaction and team spirit.
The work is constantly developing, and based on our mandate, tasks may change over time. Therefore, you need to be able to handle changes. This simultaneously gives you the opportunity to develop and both broaden and deepen your competence with us.
About you
We are looking for you who have:
- Relevant post-secondary academic education in natural sciences, such as limnology or biology with a focus on freshwater,
- Experience working with aquatic environment issues,
- At least basic knowledge of GIS,
- Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
As a person, you are analytical, engaged, and take initiative. You are used to working independently and identifying necessary processes/steps in the work. We work in teams and expect you to collaborate so that we can achieve our goals together.
It is an additional advantage if you have:
- Experience in assessing physical impacts on aquatic environments,
- Experience working with ecological issues related to hydropower,
- Experience with issues concerning environmental quality standards for water,
- Experience working within a government agency or municipality,
- Driver's license for passenger car.
Personal qualities are important to us, and we consider it a given that you contribute positively to our work environment and job satisfaction, acting according to the public sector values.
Good to know
We use a six-month probationary period.
If you are called for an interview, you may be asked to complete a work test.
Since some jobs with us require security clearance, you may undergo a security clearance before employment. This includes a security clearance interview and register check. For some positions, Swedish citizenship is required.

We work together for development and contribute to the best of society. We do this on behalf of the government, and our area of responsibility is broad. Our assignments cover the entire society, and among us, you will find everyone from biologists and engineers to economists and social scientists.
We work together to create social value every day and ensure that national goals and decisions are implemented. We believe in everyone's ability to independently drive their daily work, where you as an employee get the right conditions for work-life balance.
We offer you:
- A county with Sweden's deepest lake, the clearest un-built rivers, bifurcation, and large areas of protected nature, combined with major challenges such as sustainable land-use development, urban relocation, and industrial investments.
- Good development opportunities.
- Individualized employment terms.
- Health-promoting activities and a sustainable work environment.
- Flexible working hours, extra vacation days, and the possibility of remote work.
We believe in the power of working for something bigger, the importance of having room for life, and that all our employees should feel involved in our knowledge base.

In the recruitment process, we have taken a stance on advertising channels and marketing. We therefore decline further contact with media/advertising sales, recruitment sites, and similar.
