About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation, remand prisons, and client transport.
The Stockholm West operational area, located in the nature-rich municipality of Ekerö, comprises the open prison Svartsjö, the partially open women's prison Färingsö, and the remand prison Färingsö. Approximately 170 employees and ten managers manage, lead, and develop the operations, which house around 270 inmates. The largest professional group is prison officers, but healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others also work here. The inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, woodworking and metalworking industries, and packaging/assembly. The inmates also run an organic farm with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. The two prisons are located a stone's throw from each other and are accessible by bus or car. You can park for free at our staff parking lot at both prisons.
