Arena Personal is now assisting Åkers Sweden in recruiting a Production Manager for the Finishing Department – the final step in the production process. This is a direct hire position, and you will be employed directly by Åkers Sweden. Here you will have a central role with significant responsibility for both people and results in one of Sweden's most historic industrial operations.

Background

Åkers Sweden manufactures and casts rolls for customers in the steel and metal industries worldwide. As a Production Manager, you will become an important part of the operation, responsible for creating structure, developing production, and building an engaged team. We are looking for someone who wants to contribute long-term and develop together with the company. The position is planned to be filled in August or as agreed, taking notice periods into account.

About the Role

As a Production Manager, you are responsible for leading and developing operations within your production area, the Finishing Department. You ensure that the department meets set goals regarding safety, quality, delivery, and productivity, while creating conditions for an engaged and well-functioning team. The role entails overall responsibility for people, production, and continuous improvements.

You have personnel responsibility for approximately 40 employees and lead the operations together with three team leaders, reporting directly to the Production Director. The position is located at Åkers Styckebruk, just outside Strängnäs, half an hour from Eskilstuna and half an hour from Södertälje. We prefer applicants who live in the local area or have the opportunity to establish themselves locally. The position is day-time with flexible working hours. You have your own office directly adjacent to the production floor and work close to the operations where decisions are made.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prioritize, and follow up on daily production.
  • Have personnel responsibility, including development discussions, competence development, and working environment.
  • Lead, coach, and develop employees and team leaders.
  • Ensure that production meets set goals regarding quality, delivery, and productivity.
  • Monitor business results and drive continuous improvements in quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Collaborate closely with functions such as production technology, quality, and HR to develop the business.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment and good cooperation within the organization.

Requirements for the Position

  • Experience in leading personnel.
  • Experience from mechanical production or similar industrial operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good technical understanding.
  • Very good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
