Backe Health Centre is a smaller unit with approximately 1,200 registered patients, providing excellent conditions for long-term patient relationships, continuity, and medical quality.

The medical team is currently being established, meaning you will have significant opportunities to shape work methods, priorities, and development. At the same time, you will have access to medical colleagues at Strömsund Health Centre, where the primary care ward NÄVA is also located.

As a specialist in general practice, you will have a broad and varied role, with the opportunity to work closely with both patients and the team.

At our workplace, you will encounter a culture characterized by:

  • Collaboration across professional boundaries
  • Involvement and trust
  • Respect for medical competence and judgment
  • We value both experience and engagement and believe in leadership that gives doctors room to influence and develop the practice. Here you will find colleagues with both breadth and specialization, and a desire to work together.

Primary Care in Region Jämtland Härjedalen is part of the Division for Close Care, where primary care, ambulance services, psychiatry, and public dental care collaborate. This provides good conditions for cohesive care, short decision-making paths, and professional dialogue between units.

Since 2022, primary care and ambulance services have been integrated – an important step in the work towards good and close care, where patient needs drive the organization of care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a district doctor here, you will work broadly within primary care, assessing, investigating, treating, and advising patients with varying symptoms and medical questions. The role includes both acute and planned patient contacts and is characterized by a holistic perspective on patient needs.

The work also includes health promotion and preventive measures, both individually and in groups, as well as close collaboration with other professions at the health centre. Duties within Child Health Services (CHS) and medical responsibility for special housing will be included.

You work evidence-based and use varied working methods, including individual patient meetings, group activities, and digital contacts via the internet, with the goal of offering accessible, good, and close care.

The working conditions are designed to be sustainable over time. On-call and standby duties are included approximately once a month and are based at Strömsund Health Centre. There is an opportunity for remote work for administrative tasks and flexibility in scheduling that can be adapted to the needs of the practice and your life situation. The ambition is clear: this should be a job that is sustainable for many years.

For those with extensive experience and an interest in contributing beyond the clinical setting, there are good opportunities to take on greater responsibility. This could involve supervising ST-doctors (specialist training doctors) or medical leadership roles.

Parallel to this, a long-term development project regarding rural healthcare in Strömsund Municipality is underway, currently being formalized and planned to span several years. Here there is room for strategic thinking and profession-proximate development where your experience can truly make a difference.

QUALIFICATIONS

You must hold a Swedish license and be a specialist in general practice. As we work in a rural area, having a driver's license is advantageous.

Personal qualities:

We work with good and close care, and you are someone who wants to continue our work to be a welcoming health centre for both patients, partners, and colleagues. You are proactive, want to drive development and change, and are naturally reliable.

Employment type: Permanent.
Duration: Permanent, start date: When it suits the applicant.

Life outside of work is a decisive factor for many at this stage of their career. Backe offers a tranquility that is hard to find in larger contexts. Here you are close to hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, and sparsely populated mountains, with short daily distances and low stress. At the same time, there is proximity to Strömsund, Junsele, Ramsele, and Hoting, and the possibility of longer commuting to both Östersund and Umeå.

This is a position for you who are secure in your specialist role, value continuity, the whole picture, and professional autonomy, and see the conditions of rural life as an opportunity rather than a limitation. Backe Health Centre offers a context where your experience is not only sought after, but needed.

Backe Health Centre for you who want to work with your full experience and have the space to use it.
