Our Operations

Our oncology clinic is responsible for oncological care and treatment for the residents of Jämtland and Härjedalen. The assignment includes both curative and palliative care and treatment, as well as follow-up of these patients. We have high competence among the staff at the clinic, including nurses and assistant nurses, and there are both specialist-competent doctors and doctors in training. At the clinic, we have a well-functioning system with contact nurses. The clinic also has a cancer rehabilitation team. We also collaborate closely with Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå, and oncology consultants regularly visit from Umeå.

Collaboration with Palliative Care

Close to the clinic is the palliative care ward with 8 beds. Currently, patients with palliative cancer diagnoses are primarily treated there. Some of the clinic's patients are also connected to palliative home care. The clinic and ward belong to the Surgery Area, and specialist doctors from our oncological and palliative units are responsible for the care. If interested, there is an opportunity to observe on the palliative care ward.

Job Description

Usual duties as a doctor at the clinic, for example, examining and following up on patients, providing support to nurses, signing and following up on lab and X-ray results. The most common diagnoses at our oncology clinic are breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, malignant melanoma, prostate cancer, and urinary tract cancer.

Qualifications and Merits

You who are applying are a qualified licensed resident physician, i.e., you have a Swedish medical license. Alternatively, you have a medical degree or have completed at least semester 10 of the medical program in Sweden with approved courses and exams so that we, according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations, can employ you on a substitute appointment as an unlicensed resident physician. You have Swedish language skills equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale.

Experience working with oncological palliative care is meritorious. Great weight is placed on your personal qualities, such as your ability to build a strong relationship with patients and relatives, your ease in collaborating in teams at the clinic, and with other involved colleagues within the hospital, primary care, and municipal care.

• Type: Substitute position for 6 months with possibility of extension.
