Dietitian for the Eating Disorders Unit, Psychiatry Area
The Psychiatry Area offers specialist psychiatric care for adults in Jämtland County, encompassing both outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care. Within the psychiatric clinic at Östersund Hospital, several specialist psychiatric operations are gathered, providing good conditions for close collaboration between units and professions.
The Eating Disorders Unit offers specialist psychiatric care for adults with eating disorder issues, often in combination with psychiatric comorbidity. We work in a multidisciplinary team with assessment, treatment, and follow-up. The treatment work is based on evidence-based practice and uses CBT-E as a common treatment foundation within the team, supplemented by interventions based on the patient's needs.
We are in a development phase where care chains, teamwork, and collaboration regarding patients with eating disorders are being strengthened. In connection with the planned move and co-location with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) eating disorder operation, the collaboration across age limits and care levels is being developed. As a dietitian, your main team affiliation is with the Eating Disorders Unit.

Job Description
As a dietitian within the Psychiatry Area, you work with clinical nutrition in a specialist psychiatric context. Your base is at the Eating Disorders Unit, where you are part of the team's work with assessment, treatment, and follow-up of patients with eating disorder issues. Based on the patients' needs and the unit's priorities, the assignment also includes dietitian interventions within psychiatric inpatient care and other outpatient units within the area.
You plan and carry out dietitian interventions independently, while the work is done in close collaboration with the team and relevant parts of the care chain. Some parts of the assignment can be performed remotely.
The work includes:
- Assessing and treating difficulties related to eating, weight, and nutrient intake in eating disorders, malnutrition, and other psychiatric conditions
- Establishing, following up, and revising meal plans with a focus on meal structure, weight recovery, weight stabilization, and normalization of eating
- Assessing energy, nutrient, and fluid needs, and planning and following up on nutritional treatment during refeeding, risk of refeeding syndrome, and need for nutritional support
- Contributing dietitian expertise in teamwork, care planning, and collaboration with relevant care providers
- Providing information and support to patients, relatives, and staff, as well as documenting and contributing to follow-up and quality assurance of the work methods
The role suits you if you thrive with an independent assignment where structure, judgment, and prioritization skills are important. You work closely with the eating disorder team and collaborate with relevant parts of the care chain based on the patient's needs.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a registered dietitian and want to work in specialist psychiatric care, with a special focus on patients with eating disorder issues. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, are confident in patient work and record keeping, and have the ability to work in a structured manner and make independent assessments.
Experience of psychiatry, especially eating disorder care, is meritorious. We also view positively experience of clinical dietitian work with malnutrition, refeeding, risk of refeeding syndrome, or need for nutritional support.
You can be experienced or newer in the profession, but need to have a clear interest in psychiatry, eating disorder care, and clinical dietitian work.
As a person, you are confident, sensitive, and clear. You have the ability to meet patients in complex care situations, work independently, and contribute to the team's joint work. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.
