Lund University was founded in 1666 and is consistently ranked among the world's leading universities. We have approximately 46,000 students and 8,500 employees in Lund, Helsingborg, and Malmö. We are united in our strive to understand, explain, and improve our world and people's conditions.
Workplace Description
The advertised position is linked to the Division of Legal Deposit and Metadata, which currently consists of approximately 20 employees. The largest part of the printed collections owned by the University Library consists of legal deposit copies delivered continuously from Swedish printing houses, distributors, publishers, or other producers. The division is responsible for the receipt, handling, and cataloguing of statutory legal deposits of Swedish printed matter.
The position is a fixed-term appointment for eight months. It is a result of several employees in the division being engaged in a cross-cutting project, so we are looking for an employee who can participate in the ongoing work during this period.
What We Offer
Lund University is a government agency, which means you receive special benefits, generous vacation time, and a favorable occupational pension.

Tasks and Responsibilities
You will work within the Division of Legal Deposit and Metadata, with a primary focus on receiving and handling printed legal deposit material. The work involves receiving, unpacking, and registering legal deposits, as well as assessing, sorting, and distributing the material further into the library's workflows. You will also work with journals, including arrival registration and other ongoing handling to ensure the material becomes visible and accessible for further processing.
The work with legal deposit receipt is varied and practical, requiring both precision and a good understanding of the library's mission to collect, preserve, and make Swedish printed matter accessible. The role may also involve some contact with suppliers of legal deposit material and with the National Library of Sweden regarding issues related to legal deposit collection.
Passes at one of the library's information points may be included, as well as other tasks that occur within the division.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is meticulous, responsible, and structured, and who thrives in practical work where quality, order, and functioning workflows are important. You find it easy to get used to routines and system support and see the value in working consistently with registration, handling, and follow-up of materials.
Since the division has many touchpoints with the library's other operations, you need to have good collaboration skills and be able to contribute to the team's common processes.
You also have good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Requirements for the position are:
- An academic degree in Library and Information Science.
- Good knowledge of Swedish society and the Swedish media landscape.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English in spoken and written form.
- Very good collaboration skills.
Merits for the position are:
- Experience working with printed material.
- Experience with media handling at a library, e.g., periodical handling or cataloguing.
- Experience working in the library system Koha.
- Experience working in the national union catalog Libris.
Other Information
The position is a fixed-term appointment of 100% for eight months. Start date by agreement, preferably as soon as possible.
The scope and length of the position can be adjusted based on preferences or the organization's needs, for example, through a lower employment rate over a longer period.
Interviews will be held in week 30.
