Do you want to help develop the school libraries of the future in a high school where learning, professional pride, and close student relationships are at the center?

At Practical Gymnasium, we believe in the power of combining theory with practice. Our students learn by doing, develop professional competence, and prepare for working life already during their high school years. We are now looking for an engaged school librarian who wants to strengthen students' reading, information literacy, and learning – both locally and regionally.

This is a unique position for you who want to combine the operational work of a school librarian with a strategic development assignment.

Here is what we offer you

The position is divided between two exciting assignments.

60 percent of the position is based at Practical Gymnasium Helsingborg, where you are responsible for the daily operations of the school library. You work closely with students and educators to create a library that is a natural part of teaching and the school's learning environment. You promote reading enjoyment, strengthen students' information and source criticism skills, and contribute to developing teaching together with the school's teachers. You are also responsible for information flow and serve as the Erasmus coordinator at the school.

40 percent of the position consists of a regional development assignment where you support an additional nine Practical Gymnasium schools in their work to develop school library services based on new national requirements and expectations for school libraries. You act as a support to school leaders and educators by identifying good working methods, creating structures for collaboration between the library and teaching, and contributing to making the school library an active and integrated part of the school's operations.

In this role, you will have great opportunities to influence and shape working methods, build networks between schools, and contribute to long-term development work that makes a difference for students' learning.

Here is who we are looking for

We are looking for you who are a trained librarian or have other education that the employer considers equivalent. You have experience working in libraries, preferably school libraries, and a strong interest in education, reading promotion, and students' knowledge development.

It is an advantage if you have experience driving development work, leading processes, or collaborating with educational activities. You have a good understanding of the school's mission and see the possibilities in using the school library as a pedagogical resource.

As a person, you are proactive, structured, and self-reliant. You enjoy building relationships and find it easy to collaborate with different professions. You are communicative, inspiring, and have the ability to translate guidelines and visions into concrete working methods in everyday life.
