Job Description
As a cook, you will work in the prison's large kitchen and be part of a team of 3 people. The prison operates a traditional large kitchen responsible for providing lunch and dinner for the 60 inmates. The kitchen at Åby Prison also prepares and packages lunch and dinner for inmates at the Uppsala Remand Prison. As a cook at the prison, you will prepare approximately 200–250 portions from scratch daily. Some food is portion-packaged. The tasks are all within the large kitchen and consist of common duties such as planning, preparation, and cooking of standard and special diets. It also includes usual kitchen duties distributed among the team, as well as self-control checks in accordance with current legislation.
Inmates at the prison have a duty to engage in work, and work in the prison kitchen is an important part of their activities. This means that as a cook, you will also supervise inmates in the kitchen daily.

You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to a good work environment through your attitude. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
