The Municipal Executive Office serves as the administration for the Municipal Executive Board and the Municipal Council. The office also serves as the administration for the Integration and Labour Market Committee, as well as the Water and Environment Committee.

We work with a holistic perspective, close to the political leadership, with the goal of providing the best possible support and service to Kalmar Municipality’s political organization, companies, departments, and the general public. The Municipal Executive Office consists of over 300 employees across 14 different units. The office works within a broad spectrum of areas, and the administration has several positions with specialist competencies. Additionally, the administration actively works with security issues, association life, and civil society. With us, you contribute to ensuring that socially critical systems function – every day. We are now looking for a System Operations Technician for our infrastructure team at Kalmar Municipality.

Job Responsibilities

You will become part of a team of approximately 20 people and a larger operations organization where we jointly are responsible for the municipality’s IT environment, including infrastructure, networks, and business-critical systems. Our solutions are central to socially critical operations and place high demands on availability, security, and stable operations.

We work in a modern Microsoft-based environment and have close collaboration with both suppliers and other municipalities, where we share experiences and develop common working methods. Our technical platform spans both modern solutions such as cloud services, container technology, and Microsoft Power Platform, and a comprehensive on-premise environment where a large part of our systems are still operated.

This role suits you who appreciate working in a hybrid environment where traditional stable operations meet continuous development and modernization.

In this role, you are responsible for the operation and management of several systems and ensure they function stably, securely, and efficiently over time. You work with the entire lifecycle – from planning and development to ongoing operation and improvement.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• Operation, monitoring, and incident management in a complex IT environment
• Ongoing improvement work and change management
• Collaboration with department management, colleagues, suppliers, and other municipalities
• Participation in projects and implementation of new solutions
• Planning for management, updates, and further development

You are expected to take personal responsibility for your systems and contribute to the whole, while working within common working methods and processes.

After an introductory period, the position may also be included in an emergency preparedness function.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have post-secondary education in IT or equivalent experience. You have several years of experience working in system operations, preferably from a larger organization with complex IT environments.

It is important that you:

• Are accustomed to working in a structured operations organization
• Have an understanding of processes regarding incidents, changes, and management
• Enjoy collaborating with various roles and functions
• Have experience handling systems with high demands for availability and stable operations

It is an advantage if you have experience with:

• Process frameworks such as ITIL
• Case management systems (ITSM)
• Modern hybrid environments with elements of cloud services, such as Microsoft Azure, SharePoint, container technology, and Power Platform

To succeed in the role, you are structured, responsible, and solution-oriented. You have good analytical skills and can see the big picture in complex systems.
