As a newly graduated nurse, you will have a valuable opportunity during the base year to try out several different operations within the social services administration. You will gain experience from short-term care units, special housing, home healthcare, as well as operations within care for persons with disabilities.
The purpose of the base year is to give you a secure and developmental start in your professional life. By working in different operations, you will have the opportunity to broaden your competence, develop your independence in the role of a nurse, and build a stable foundation for your continued professional life.
The base year also gives you the chance to discover which operation suits you best, as you gain valuable experience from several different areas – all within the framework of a single employment.
We are pleased to once again offer a position within our base year for nurses. The program has been highly appreciated by previous participants, who particularly highlight the opportunity to develop and gain broad experience in several operations.
The base year lasts for 14 months and includes a summer break of two months. During this period, you have vacation, or – if you wish – the opportunity to continue working within the operation where you are currently placed.
Your responsibilities
In the role of a base year nurse, you will:
A permanent position as a licensed nurse where you work under your own professional responsibility.
Work with standard nursing tasks such as patient care, assessments, examinations, and medication management.
Responsible for documentation and provide information and counseling to patients and relatives.
Lead and coordinate the daily care work in the operation.
Participate in development work and work with quality assurance, including through the national quality registers.
Approximately ten percent of working time is allocated for education, study visits, reading, and reflection.
Study visits and educational occasions within the social services administration's operations as well as at selected clinics and units at Visby Hospital.
During the base year, you will have access to regular meetings with a base year coach who follows you through the entire program. At each unit, there is also a mentor who is responsible for your introduction and whom you can always turn to for support.
When the base year is completed, you are included in the regular staffing and have your own patient responsibility.
Salary
For the position of nurse base year within special housing, the starting salary range is 35,000 - 36,500 SEK per month.
We apply individual salary setting. Final salary is determined based on education, relevant experience, competence, and responsibility in the role, as well as with regard to the current collective agreement.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have a Swedish nursing license and who have worked in the profession for at most two years. For the position, a B driving license and access to a private car are required.
As a person, you are secure and mature with good self-insight and the ability to handle different situations with calm and professionalism. You work independently, take initiative, and at the same time contribute to good cooperation and work climate.
You easily create trusting relationships and meet patients, relatives, and colleagues with empathy, respect, and clear communication. With a service-oriented approach, good judgment, and a holistic view, you prioritize correctly and contribute to good and safe care as well as the development of the operation.
In accordance with the new language requirement, you need to master Swedish well in speech and writing, to ensure secure care, good, and correct documentation.
