The Oncology Department has ten care beds, plus one overflow bed for adult patients diagnosed with cancer across all specialties.
We are a well-functioning team with dedicated staff who work from a holistic perspective around the patient and their relatives. The team includes doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and social workers.
Now you have the chance to become a nurse in our friendly night shift team. At night, the department is staffed with two nurses and one nursing assistant.
We offer you a 70% position.
Your responsibilities
To make things as optimal as possible for the patients and their relatives, we rely on the combined skills of the entire team. As a nurse, you play a key role in care to achieve symptom relief for patients in curative or palliative stages. You will also be an important person in contact with relatives and other close associates of the patients. Your ability to build good relationships and connect with people is significant.
Many of our patients have pumps for symptom relief purposes, and as a nurse, you will be responsible for monitoring and refilling these. There are patients undergoing cytostatic treatment on the ward, and if you do not have this competence, we offer training and a cytostatic license.
The work in our unit is varied and developmental. Some situations require quick action, and sometimes it is important to dedicate extra time to one of the patients or a relative.
During on-call hours, the department's nurses are responsible for providing support and advice via telephone to cancer patients enrolled in the palliative team, and to patients undergoing active treatment from day care.
We use TakeCare for medical record keeping.
Night staff have a preferred schedule and work four weekends out of ten weeks.
Who are you?
You are a licensed nurse, and it is an advantage if you have relevant specialist education and/or experience in oncological/palliative care.
We are looking for you who are flexible and adapt easily to changing circumstances. Sometimes it can be a bit quieter on the ward, only to pick up the pace shortly after. Conversation, time for "the little extra," and having fun at work are keywords for you applying to us; you are therefore receptive and observant, with a strong focus on the psychosocial environment. You are a confident person who can make decisions independently, dare to step in and stay despite difficult conversations with patients and relatives, are unpretentious, and have good collaboration skills.
We place great importance on personal suitability among our applicants.
Before a decision on employment is made, a background check is conducted via extracts from the criminal record.
