Who are we?

Hortlax Parish, located in Piteå Municipality, has a rich worship life and a strong sense of belonging, with a large proportion of families with children. You will become part of a total work team of approximately 20 people with high job satisfaction and long work experience. We enjoy collaborating and supporting each other. The parish has good contact and cooperation with local schools, sports clubs, and other community actors.

What does the position involve?

As a Church Caretaker, you have a combined indoor and outdoor role. The work is located in all of the parish's facilities: the parish center, Hortlax Church, Tallhed Church, and the funeral chapel.

Your tasks include, among other things, maintenance of green areas around Hortlax Church and the parish center, as well as daily operation and maintenance of the parish's buildings. This includes ongoing operation and control of fire alarms, alarm systems, ventilation, and heating. As a Church Caretaker, you are also responsible for urn burials that take place on weekdays.

Indoors, the tasks involve caring for the church interior and its furnishings, preparing the premises for various worship services and church ceremonies we offer (e.g., concerts, weddings, baptisms, and funerals). You are also responsible for sound systems and welcoming our church visitors.

Other tasks may be added. The position involves working during the day, some evenings, and weekends (including major holidays), with weekend work scheduled at least once per month. You will work in a small team where daily supervision is led by the Cemetery Manager/Property Manager.

Competence, experience, and education

We are looking for you who have a positive outlook, are solution-oriented, communicative, and free from pretension. You are curious and enjoy challenges. You have a humble and flexible attitude but can set boundaries. You are responsible and feel comfortable meeting people at different stages of life, both in joy and sorrow.

You who apply:

• Hold a B-driver's license and have access to your own car.
• Have good computer skills and work comfortably in various systems.
• Are technically knowledgeable and preferably have experience in property maintenance.
• Have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

It is highly meritorious if you have previous experience with IT systems and handling digital equipment, such as mobile phones and computers.

The work places high demands on your social skills, and we place great emphasis on your personal suitability. You should have a suitable upper secondary education and preferably some form of post-secondary education or other relevant competence.

We assume that you share the basic values of the Church of Sweden, which is a prerequisite for being able to fulfill the role of Church Caretaker in a credible manner.

The Position

The position is a fixed-term appointment at 100%, until May 31, 2028, at the latest. Start date is by agreement, preferably as soon as possible. Possibility of extension exists.
