We are looking for personal assistants for a one-year and ten-month-old boy with a tracheostomy in Luleå. As an assistant in this assignment, you are offered a rewarding job with an active and curious boy. The family consists of the boy, his mother, father, and their dog – a French Bulldog. They live in a villa with good conditions for a pleasant working environment. As an assistant, you will always work in close proximity to the boy, both in the home and during the family's outings and trips.

The boy's needs require supervision and interventions around the clock. Since he breathes through a tracheostomy cannula, you will always work in pairs with the employer to ensure his breathing functions correctly. A central part of the job is preventing blockages in the cannula by regularly suctioning mucus/saliva and administering mucolytic inhalations. The boy also has a feeding tube in his stomach for occasional feeding, in addition to a bottle. Otherwise, the boy is a healthy and lively baby who enjoys playing, riding in a stroller, and sitting in laps.

Who are you as an applicant?

It is important that you are punctual and can adhere to schedules, but also flexible to sometimes step in to cover gaps in staffing. As a person, you enjoy taking initiative, both independently and in interaction with others in a group. You have a natural sense of what it means to work in someone else's home and respectfully respect the home environment in your role as an assistant.

Other requirements:

• You are a non-smoker.
• You have fluent Swedish in speech and writing.

Personal chemistry and the interaction between you as an assistant, the employer, and his relatives are crucial for the quality and experience of the work.

Novum as an employer ensures that you as a new employee receive paid theoretical and practical introduction to the tasks. The introduction and training will be provided by personnel with specialist competence in tracheostomy care.

About the employment
Working hours vary and can be scheduled during the day, evening, and night according to the agreed employment degree. We apply hourly employment initially, after which a fixed schedule may be offered after completing the introduction (employment type: fixed-term for the duration of the assignment). We offer a fixed hourly wage according to agreement and other compensations according to the collective agreement (Fremia-Kommunal: Personal Assistance). The assignment is expected to last approximately 2–3 years, as the boy is expected to outgrow his condition.

About the recruitment
The selection process takes place continuously. More information about the assignment will be provided during a possible interview. Start date is by agreement. For employment with Novum Assistans, you are required to have a BankID and approve its use in the service.

As you, as a personal assistant, will be working with a child, you are required to present a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) from the police prior to employment.
