Job Opportunity: Employment Coaches at Katrineholm Municipality

Within the Education and Labour Market Administration, we work purposefully to enable more residents of Katrineholm to establish themselves in employment or studies. The Labour Market Unit is responsible for the municipality's active labour market measures and collaborates closely with social services, Region Sörmland, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.

The municipality is now launching a strong initiative within the framework of the overarching strategy for increased employment among residents aged 16–65. This strategy, approved by the Municipal Council, aims to help more people achieve employment, studies, and self-sufficiency. As part of this work, the municipality runs several collaboration projects targeting young people and adults who are outside the labour market and education system. Additionally, from July 1, 2026, a new activity requirement in the Social Services Act will come into effect, meaning the municipality has an extended responsibility to offer meaningful activities to individuals receiving financial assistance.

We are now strengthening our team and are looking for two Employment Coaches. In this role, you will be part of an engaged team working with coordinated measures for individuals who are far from the labour market, within the framework of the municipality's ongoing operations and in close collaboration with several stakeholders. Job Responsibilities

The target group consists of adults who are neither working nor studying and who need support to move forward. This may include adults receiving financial assistance with complex support needs, or individuals who need coordinated measures from several stakeholders to take steps towards employment or studies.

As an Employment Coach, you work closely with participants and are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on measures at the individual level. Central to your role is establishing trusting relationships with participants, assessing their needs and prerequisites, and coordinating and following up on individual measures towards employment, studies, or other labour market-related activities.

The work further involves:

  • Receiving participants and contributing to coordinated mapping in a cross-professional team
  • Planning and implementing individual measures and group activities, such as motivational interviewing, work-oriented activities, and workplace-based learning
  • Monitoring participants' progress and adjusting measures in collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Building and maintaining contact with employers to create opportunities for internships and employment
  • Documenting and following up on measures continuously in accordance with current routines and legislation
  • Contributing to method development and participating in joint learning and follow-up formats

The work requires a high degree of independence, structure, and the ability to handle complex situations where the participant's needs are always central.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have relevant post-secondary education, for example as a social worker, behavioral scientist, occupational therapist, teacher, study and career counselor, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. It is meritorious if you have experience working with individuals far from the labour market in a supportive and coaching role, and are accustomed to working with documentation, follow-up, and collaboration between different stakeholders. It is also meritorious if you have experience working within labour market measures, social services, adult education, or similar contexts.

You have very good communicative skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, and can adapt your approach to different individuals and situations. The position requires a B driving license as you need to travel between different locations quickly and smoothly during a workday.

As a person, you are relationship-building, empathetic, and solution-focused. You have a coaching approach and the ability to meet people based on their individual prerequisites. At the same time, you are structured, responsible, and have good ability to plan, prioritize, and follow up on your work. You thrive in collaboration with others but can also work independently and take initiative within the framework of your assignment.
