At the Swedish Work Environment Authority, we work together to ensure that no one gets sick, injured, or dies as a result of their work. Therefore, we help employers meet the requirements and inform about how occupational health and safety work becomes a natural part of everyday life. Based on the Work Environment Act, we develop regulations, inspect workplaces, and spread knowledge about occupational health and safety issues. The mission is serious, but our daily work is characterized by joy in work, and we are considerate and helpful colleagues.
Your new job
We are now looking for a Data Analyst for a one-year fixed-term position in the Statistics Unit. In this role, you will contribute to the authority's development towards a more data-driven, risk-based, and knowledge-based way of working.
This includes, among other things:
- Identifying and integrating external data sources
- Conducting quantitative analyses of large datasets
- Developing indicators and, in the long term, predictive models
- Ensuring data and analysis quality
- Contributing a quantitative perspective in cross-functional collaborations
An important part of the job is also to ensure good documentation of data, code, analyses, and processes, so that the work becomes reproducible, traceable, and possible to further develop.
Since the work will largely involve participating in the development of the authority's working methods, we are looking for you who want to be part of creating something new. Someone who enjoys working independently and thrives in changing environments that are under development. The work will require collaboration with different parts of the authority's operations, and you should enjoy creating new contacts to carry out your assignment.
The role is both strategic and operational and also includes work related to the authority's official statistics.
The Statistics Unit consists of 12 employees tasked with creating official statistics on work injuries and the work environment, and are also responsible for producing various forms of analyses and decision support materials. We also work with operational data for the authority's needs and provide statistical and data analytical support to the authority's operations.
Your background
The role requires that you have:
- A university degree in, for example, statistics, computer science, mathematics, economics, or another area relevant to the position. Alternatively, other post-secondary education combined with several years of relevant work experience that the employer considers equivalent
- Several years of current experience in quantitative analysis of large datasets
- Current experience working with data throughout the entire chain (identifying potential data sources, processing, analysis, documentation)
- Experience with programming for data analysis (e.g., SQL, Python, R, or equivalent)
- Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
- Good knowledge of English
It is meritorious if you also have:
- Experience working with the statistical tool SAS
- Experience with statistical modeling or machine learning
- Experience working at a government agency
As a person, we see that you will thrive and succeed in the role if you have a very good ability to solve problems independently and create structure in your work. You can drive the work forward with calmness and confidence in your own abilities, even when the frameworks are not always completely given or predictable. You can quickly adapt to new circumstances and change decisions and priorities when necessary. Furthermore, you have a good ability to analyze and interpret quantitative data, structure and ensure data quality, and understand what information can be refined into data.
Since the work will be carried out in cross-functional collaborations, we also see that you have good collaboration skills and exchange information and knowledge with the aim of achieving common goals.
In the selection process, we will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
A position with us may involve the post being placed in a security classification. Security clearance with or without register check may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment. For some of our security-classified tasks, Swedish citizenship is required. Security clearance is conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
