Museum Host – Uppsala Castle History
Welcome to the Department of Culture, Sports and Leisure. The department consists of six divisions. Four of the department's divisions are primarily responsible for the Cultural Committee's self-administered operations: Uppsala Library, Uppsala Leisure, Uppsala Art and Cultural Heritage, and Uppsala Cultural School. Two divisions within the department are secretariats that work on direct assignments from the department's management and handle cases for the Cultural Committee and the Sports and Leisure Committee, respectively.

Job Description
As a Museum Host, you are responsible for leading and developing the work with hospitality and thus have a key role in the operations. You represent the museum in the daily reception of visitors and contribute to creating engagement for the history of the castle and Uppsala.
The work includes:
- Supervising other museum hosts and developing the work with hospitality and customer service.
- Receiving visitors, groups, and partners.
- Being responsible for supervision of the museum's public areas.
- Conducting tours.
- Handling cash sales and accounting, and being responsible for the museum shop.
- Contributing to operational development together with the museum's other employees.
- Being involved in the museum's work with communication and customer journey.
You will work according to scheduled hours, which include evenings and weekends. This position is a one-year temporary position with a start date of November 1, 2026.
Qualifications
For this position, we see that you have a bachelor's degree in art and culture or equivalent, for example in museology, ethnology, art history, or history. You have experience working in a museum or within the visitor industry, and experience in the public service role: Hospitality, educator, or similar role. Previous experience in leadership is desirable.
As a person, you are service-oriented, calm, and attentive. You take responsibility and drive your work forward to achieve results. You handle work peaks in a professional and systematic way and take initiative during calmer work periods. Furthermore, you are a communicative person who is good at listening and adapting your way of communicating.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.
In your application, you must state your citizenship. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, which is required according to the Aliens Ordinance.

Salary form: Monthly salary.
Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
