Leadership and Support Functions at Akademiska Sjukhuset

Welcome to Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community with your colleagues. We welcome your application!

Our Operations

At Akademiska Sjukhuset, one of Sweden's premier university hospitals, you will find yourself at the heart of healthcare development. The Unit for Digital Development (EDU) leads, directs, and supports the digitalization of Akademiska Sjukhuset.

The Precision Medicine Center Uppsala (PMCU) drives development within precision medicine and works in close collaboration with hospital operations. Together, we see a growing need for improved working methods and technical solutions for handling and analyzing research data.

Here, you will work in an environment where innovation, research, operational benefit, and patient benefit go hand in hand, and where cross-professional collaboration is a natural part of everyday life.

Your Role

We are looking for an investigator for a fixed-term assignment focused on research data and digitalization within precision medicine. The position is located at the Unit for Digital Development (EDU), and the assignment is carried out in close collaboration with PMCU, as well as other relevant operations within the hospital.

Development within precision medicine is moving quickly, and the need for appropriate structures, working methods, and digital prerequisites for handling and analyzing large-scale research data is increasing. In this role, you will contribute to creating a consolidated picture of the current situation, needs, and possible paths forward, as a basis for further development in the area.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Mapping and documenting needs related to the handling and analysis of research data
  • Analyzing existing systems, processes, and working methods
  • Holding dialogues with clinical operations, researchers, and system administrators
  • Identifying areas for development and collaboration needs
  • Contributing to structuring and coordinating existing initiatives in the area
  • Producing overarching materials and recommendations (e.g., needs assessment, structure, and working methods)

The assignment is investigative and analytical in nature, with a focus on delivering decision-making materials for further development.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who want to help shape future healthcare within precision medicine. You are analytical, structured, and have a good ability to translate needs into clear solutions. You find it easy to collaborate and communicate with different professional groups and thrive working both independently and in teams.

Requirements:

  • University/college education in health informatics, informatics, IT, systems science, life science, or other relevant education that the employer deems equivalent
  • Experience in investigative work, analysis, and/or project management, preferably in complex operational environments
  • Good collaboration skills
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
  • Ability to structure, analyze, and document information in complex information flows
  • Good understanding of digital systems and data management

Merits:

  • Experience working in Region Uppsala or another public sector organization
  • Experience working at the intersection of IT, operations, and research
  • Experience with research data or research infrastructure
  • Experience with implementing or coordinating digital systems
  • Experience with the National Genomics Platform (NGP) within Genomic Medicine Sweden (GMS)

Your Competence

To succeed in the role, you need to be analytical, structured, and have the ability to create an overview in complex contexts. You drive your work independently, take responsibility for delivery, and have a good ability to prioritize and move the work forward. Since the assignment involves many contact surfaces, you need to be receptive, communicative, and have an easy time building trust in dialogues with different stakeholders. You thrive working close to operations and users, and can translate needs and perspectives into clear materials, analyses, and recommendations. You express yourself well in both speech and writing and contribute to good and non-hierarchical collaboration.

What We Offer

You will have the opportunity to contribute to strategically important development work within precision medicine and digital development, with significant impact on future research within Region Uppsala.

We offer a fixed-term project employment until 2026-12-31 with a scope of 100%, with the possibility of extension. Start date by agreement. Here, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).

The work is primarily during daytime hours.
