Boliden is a high-tech metals company with its own mines and smelters, working long-term to guarantee society's access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will play a crucial role in the future – what matters is how we produce them. Become part of us and drive change for future generations.
Do you want to work in one of the world's most modern and digitized industries? At Garpenberg, Boliden runs a highly automated and stable process where quality and safety are at the center. We are now looking for a Laboratory Assistant who wants to contribute to reliable analyses and thereby ensure stable process control, metal recovery, and production efficiency.
Your role
As a Laboratory Assistant, you are a central part of quality assurance within the concentration process. You ensure that analyses of ore and process samples meet high technical standards and are used as a basis for decision-making in production. The role covers the entire chain, from sampling and sample preparation to analysis, reporting, and equipment maintenance, in a safety-critical and process-oriented environment.
The work is practical and varied and takes place largely in the operational area and in the laboratory environment.
The position is a collective agreement role with working hours during daytime, Monday–Friday.
Your team
You belong to the laboratory within the process department and work closely with process engineers, operators, and supervisors. The work takes place in an experienced team with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities
- Conduct sampling and sample preparation from various stages of the concentration process
- Perform chemical and instrumental analyses such as XRF, ICP, sieving, and wet chemistry analyses.
- Ensure operation, calibration, functional testing, and simple maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Document and report analysis data in LIMS and internal systems with high traceability
- Work according to established procedures, SOPs, and risk assessments
- Contribute to the development and improvement of methods, procedures, and working practices
- Actively participate in occupational health, safety, and 5S work
Your contribution
You work in a structured and meticulous manner and have a strong sense of quality in all tasks. You thrive in an environment where several work tasks run in parallel and where your ability to plan and prioritize is crucial. You appreciate a job where theory and practice meet, where you both analyze results and work hands-on in the laboratory. You have a working style that allows you to perform recurring tasks with maintained accuracy, even when the work involves standing positions, movement within the facility, and physical handling of materials.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Science (Chemistry) upper secondary education and/or post-secondary education in chemistry, laboratory technology, or equivalent
- Experience in laboratory work, preferably in an industrial process environment
- Experience in sampling and sample preparation
- Knowledge of instrumental analysis methods (e.g., XRF, ICP, wet chemistry)
- Experience working in LIMS or similar systems
- Very good skills in Swedish and English
- Valid driver's license (Category B)
Advantageous:
- Experience in concentration processes or the mining industry
- Experience with calibration and simple maintenance of equipment
