About the Department

We are currently five hospital physicists with offices at the radiology clinic in Falun. Hospital physics is an integrated part of the county's radiology clinics, which allows for many social interactions. We also have close cooperation with Medical Technology. The scope of work includes radiological diagnostics, dentistry, intervention, nuclear medicine diagnostics and therapy, as well as MRI in the region. New equipment is on its way into the operations. A new SPECT/CT will be installed in nuclear medicine this autumn, followed by a pacemaker lab at the cardiology department. A replacement of all CT scanners in the county will begin in the near future. Hospital physics also staffs Region Dalarna's radiation protection expert function.

Responsibilities

As a hospital physicist, you work close to the clinical operations. We plan together on a term basis and assign tasks based on interest and competence, creating a flexible work environment with the goal of building broad expertise in hospital physics. Routine tasks such as annual controls, dose measurements, and quality work are mixed with personal projects, seminars, and training. Hospital physics collaborates broadly with other professional groups via, for example, modality and optimization groups. For new employees, there is an introduction program, and tasks are distributed in consultation with colleagues. In Region Dalarna, all hospital physicists are encouraged to undergo specialist training (ST), and local supervision is available within the specialties of radiology and nuclear medicine.

The position is located in Falun, but the work also involves travel to other locations in Dalarna.
