Boliden is a high-tech metals company with its own mines and smelters, working long-term to guarantee society's access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will play a crucial role in the future – what matters is how we produce them. Become part of us and drive change for future generations.
Do you want to work on environmental issues that really make a difference – every day? As an Environmental Coordinator in Garpenberg, you will have a central role in developing and monitoring work related to, among other things, water quality, emissions, and environmental impact in one of Europe's most modern mines. You contribute with analysis and understanding of complex systems and help the business make long-term sustainable decisions. The role gives you the opportunity to combine technology, environment, and collaboration in a context where your expertise has a direct impact.
Your role
As an Environmental Coordinator, you work with both analysis and monitoring of environmental data, focusing on water quality. At the same time, the role has responsibility within external environment, where coordination and monitoring take place in areas such as biodiversity, waste, vibrations, contaminated land, and remediation. You contribute to ensuring that operations meet legal requirements and permits, while also developing methods and understanding of how our systems function over time.
The role involves a combination of technical work, collaboration, and structure, where you work closely with both operations, specialists, and authorities. Here, you have the opportunity to gradually deepen your competence in environmental technology and water management while helping to develop sustainable solutions for the future.
The position is a permanent day shift role.
Your team
You will become part of the environmental team in Garpenberg, where you work together with environmental engineers and environmental coordinators with various specialist areas. The team collaborates closely with production, projects, and central functions within Boliden.
We work together to solve complex issues, share knowledge, and support each other in daily life. You will join a team with high competence and a common focus on development, quality, and sustainability.
Your responsibilities
- Analyze and monitor environmental data, particularly related to water quality, biodiversity, waste, vibrations, contaminated land, and remediation.
- Evaluate test results and identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Compile and report environmental data to authorities and internally.
- Contribute to work with permits, self-monitoring, and authority contacts.
- Participate in projects related to water management and environmental development.
- Work with systems and tools for environmental monitoring.
- Collaborate with operations to develop methods and solutions.
Your contribution
To thrive and develop in the role, we believe you create structure and quality in your work even when handling multiple parallel tasks. You collaborate in a trusting manner with both colleagues and external parties, and have a curious attitude where you want to understand how technical and environmental systems are interconnected. You take responsibility for your work and drive tasks forward in a thoughtful and structured way, while communicating clearly and being able to explain complex information in a simple and understandable manner.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant university education in environment, chemistry, water, or a similar field.
- Basic understanding of environmental work and water-related issues.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- Valid driver's license (Category B).
- Good experience working with digital tools and data.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience from industry, mining, or process operations.
- Worked with water management or environmental analysis.
- Experience with environmental reporting or authority contacts.
- Knowledge of systems for environmental monitoring.
