Workplace Description

Research on male reproduction is conducted at the Research Group for Molecular Reproductive Medicine. The research is at the forefront both nationally and internationally regarding the causes and long-term complications of involuntary male infertility, as well as the effect of cancer and cancer treatment on male reproductive function. The group is led by Professor Aleksander Giwercman and consists of clinical and non-clinical researchers as well as technical staff. More information about the research can be found here (#). The position is located at RMC (Reproductive Medicine Centre) in Malmö.

The research group is part of the Swedish-Danish collaboration ReproUnion, which, with support from the EU, Region Skåne, Region Hovedstaden, Lund, Copenhagen, and Malmö Universities, as well as the pharmaceutical industry, conducts internationally leading research on both female and male infertility. Additionally, the research group participates in two EU-funded projects.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Your tasks and responsibilities primarily include:

  • Coordination and inclusion of research participants in two ongoing clinical studies.
  • Blood sampling and anthropometric examinations on patients recruited for research.
  • Extraction of sperm DNA for molecular analyses.
  • Preparation of biological material for biobanking and administration of the research group's biobank.
  • Flow cytometric analysis of sperm DNA integrity.
  • Analysis of inflammation markers in serum.

Other tasks within the research group may also become relevant.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • Licensed biomedical laboratory scientist with eligibility to work within Swedish healthcare.
  • English language skills corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale.
  • Interest in clinical research.
  • Experience in coordinating clinical projects, blood sampling, and clinical/anthropometric examinations of patients, as well as using the RedCap data system.
  • Experience in using and handling a pipetting robot.
  • Experience in sperm DNA extraction and genetic analyses on sperm.
  • Experience in working with the administration of biobank material.

Qualifications that would be meritorious for the position include:

  • Good knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Good language skills in English, both spoken and written.

In this role, it is important to be meticulous and have a good ability to work independently. You are organized and possess strong collaboration skills. Furthermore, you are social, results-oriented, and proactive. Personal suitability is given great weight.

Other Information

The position is a permanent full-time (100%) employment, with a start date of 2026-09-01, or as agreed.
