About American High School, Stockholm - Campus Frescati Hage
In the autumn of 2023, we started a high school at Brunnsviken in the nature-rich Norra Djurgårdsstaden. The school enters its fourth academic year this autumn and has approximately 500 students studying on the Natural Science, Economics, or Social Science programs. The teaching is conducted in both English and Swedish by a competent teaching staff with a strong sense of community.
About the position
As a special needs educator, you work partly from the school's student health team and are an important part of the promoting and preventive work. You also work operationally to support teachers in learning situations, where, for example, lesson observations are an important part of the daily basis. You ensure that students receive the right support and that teachers have the right knowledge to structure the teaching so that it is accessible to all students.
You also work closely with the school management and act as an extended arm in ensuring that teachers and students have the right conditions to succeed. Together with the school management, you are responsible for planning and driving the work regarding support at the individual, group, and organizational levels, as well as for students in need of special support. In collaboration with teachers and guardians, you provide support in adapting studies for students. You draw up action plans and conduct investigations, such as pedagogical mappings, as needed. You also support principals in school development issues and actively participate in the school's development work.
You will support students with structure, planning, and study techniques. We assume that you have a good familiarity with compensatory aids and competence regarding digital learning tools. In the long run, the position may also include coordinating responsibilities.
The position is a permanent full-time (100%) employment, starting with a probationary period of 6 months. Start date August 3rd or as agreed.
Your profile
We are looking for you who are educated as a special needs educator or special teacher, with a degree, and preferably you who also have a teaching license. Previous experience in the profession is required. It is also meritorious if you have worked with high school students. You have experience in drawing up action plans and conducting pedagogical investigations, as well as good knowledge of and experience working with students with reading and writing difficulties. You also have knowledge of and experience working with language-developing approaches.
You have a professional attitude in meeting with students, colleagues, and guardians, and good insight into people's different conditions. You have an easy time collaborating and creating good working relationships with a coaching and supervisory approach. As a person, you are solution-oriented. You see opportunities and you always lead challenges and problems towards solutions. You have an overall positive attitude.

You are expected to have good communication skills in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. You have the ability to use a broad spectrum of digital teaching materials and you have stable digital competence.
