Description of the operations
Solhagaskolan is a special needs primary and upper secondary school within Nytida, located in Lödöse, Lilla Edet Municipality. The school has a cheerful team that has worked together for many years. The target group consists of students with intellectual disabilities, autism, ADHD, and potentially other additional diagnoses. The school has space for approximately 17 students. For more information about our operations, visit us on Instagram or our website.
Description of the position
In your role as a student assistant, you help create a secure foundation for our students who require extraordinary support, specially designed pedagogy, and social training. You are present as support by the students' side throughout the entire school day. An important part of the job is to stimulate and motivate the students to develop their abilities and create opportunities for learning. The work is characterized by low-arousal approaches (LAB), clarifying pedagogy, and alternative communication strategies. In close collaboration with colleagues, you work to stimulate and challenge the students' development and learning. Your duties also include daily tasks such as grocery shopping, kitchen duties, cleaning, and other practical tasks that may arise. Your working hours are Monday–Friday 07:45–12:45 (no work during holidays and weekends).
Skills, experience, and personal qualities
We are looking for you who have the courage, experience, and willingness to work with our most challenging students. Our school is a special needs school focusing on students in great need of special support. Here you will meet a student group where acting-out behavior, self-harm behavior, and other problem-causing behaviors are part of everyday life.
This assignment is not for everyone. It requires a strong psyche, a secure personality, and clear structure. You need to be able to stand your ground when things get tough, take responsibility in pressured situations, and at the same time meet every student with respect and professionalism.
We work with low-arousal approaches (LAB) as a foundation. This means we do not let ourselves be provoked, but focus on understanding, regulating, and responding to behaviors with calmness and clarity. You need to be sensitive, reflective, and secure in yourself – preferably with previous experience of the target group.
You have at least a high school education, preferably within care and nursing or childcare/child and leisure, or other relevant education. It is meritorious if you have experience of low-arousal approaches, students with neuropsychiatric disabilities and/or intellectual disabilities.
We are looking for someone who understands differences and is flexible in their thinking. You need to be solution-focused and preferably have experience of working in schools and with people with disabilities. You are a responsible, empathetic, and careful person who has a genuine interest in supporting people with disabilities. You have a positive attitude, focus on opportunities, and see it as your clear responsibility to contribute to a positive work climate. You should be able to work both independently and in a group. You need to be in stable condition, both physically and mentally, as it is important to be able to support the students and handle stress.
You need to have very good knowledge of Swedish, both in writing and speech. This is a very important criterion – if you do not meet this criterion, we ask you not to apply for this position. Since the oldest students at the school can be around 20–21 years old, it is an advantage if you are older than them.
We politely but firmly decline contact with advertising sellers or other recruiters.
