Gränby School is a school for grades 6-9 in central Uppsala with approximately 350 students. The school has dedicated and competent staff, well-functioning facilities with well-equipped special classrooms, as well as a large, nice schoolyard. The school also has a complete student health team.

At Gränby School, we collaborate with the Activity House and the Youth Club to ensure our students have a developmental school time and leisure time. Gränby School is also an accredited Erasmus school and has good opportunities for international exchanges for both students and staff.

Description of Duties

Gränby School is looking for a social pedagogue who will work in a close team with our current social pedagogue. As a social pedagogue, you work to create a safe and well-functioning school environment during breaks, but also in the classroom. You actively work to create a meaningful leisure time for the students through, for example, break activities. You work as support for individual students and groups during lessons and also participate in all other activities that take place at the school.

As a social pedagogue, you work in the school cafeteria and organize various activities that create cohesion and traditions at the school. You also support the school's student council. As a social pedagogue, you also work with conflict resolution and mediation. We work closely together with the school's student health team, and you often participate in various types of meetings with guardians and students.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are trained as a social pedagogue with a few years of experience from lower secondary school.

The following are meritorious:

• education in and experience of using different conversation methods.
• good experience of contact with students and guardians.
• knowledge and experience of leading conversation groups.
• knowledge and experience of conflict resolution and mediation.

You have good cooperation skills and work closely with teachers, student health services, and other staff to create a safe and inclusive school environment. You are receptive, communicate clearly, and contribute to handling situations and conflicts in a constructive manner.

Furthermore, you are relationship-building and build trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. Through your engagement and presence, you create participation and support students in their social development.

Additionally, you are development-oriented and see opportunities to improve working methods and interventions in the social pedagogical work. You take in new methods and actively contribute to developing the operations based on the students' needs.
