Job Description

This division manager position covers management functions within two units: "training" and "data management". The manager responsibility for each unit amounts to 50 %.

The Training unit focuses on advanced education, primarily for doctoral students and postdocs. Our training activities take place nationwide, and courses are offered both on-site and digitally. As the manager for the training activities, you are responsible for routines and functions within the unit, as well as for recruiting teachers within NBIS for the courses offered. The training activities are carried out in close collaboration with training liaisons within the various NBIS units.

The Data Management unit focuses on supporting Swedish researchers in the life sciences with data management according to the principles of Open Science and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). Your work in this role involves ensuring staffing for projects, responsible for prioritizing tasks, and balancing the workload. The role also includes overall strategic responsibility for NBIS's data management activities.

The position will have delegated responsibility from the Dean for employee and salary discussions for experts employed at ICM; for other experts at other universities, operational responsibility including employee discussions is included. Since the experts will be located both at Uppsala University and at other universities in Sweden, communication and coordination are important tasks.

The position also includes representing NBIS at various symposia and conferences, as well as driving projects within the European organization ELIXIR, where NBIS constitutes the Swedish node.

  • At least 5 weeks of leadership training.
  • Experience from the development of teaching materials.
  • Very good skills in spoken and written Swedish.
  • Very good skills in spoken and written English.

We are looking for an employee with excellent communication skills who is service-oriented with a good willingness for dialogue and teamwork. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and qualities such as sensitivity, as well as good organizational and collaboration skills. Further education in leadership, business development, and project management is meritorious. NBIS will also provide additional training in these areas.
