Welcome to the Employment Services Department. Here we work with labor market initiatives, social assistance, adult education, consumer issues, and the introduction of newly arrived immigrants. The goal is to offer everyone the opportunity for self-sufficiency. At Social Services - Financial Assistance, you make a real difference. We work with investigating the right to financial assistance and helping people take the next step towards self-sufficiency - a task that requires both professionalism, commitment, and sensitivity.

We are approximately 190 employees divided into a reception unit, six investigation units, the unit for coordination of work, administration and service, and operationally close support.

Here, we care that you feel secure in your role. Therefore, you receive a thorough introduction, access to experienced colleagues to bounce ideas off, and regular supervision. You have the opportunity to work from home two days a week if and when the tasks allow.

Unit 6 is a unit where we work with people who have some form of illness and where contact with healthcare is what drives the work forward. The unit includes social secretaries, qualified caseworkers, SIP coordinators, team leaders, and unit managers.

Description of duties

We exist for the residents of our municipality. Your duties include supporting individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and, in the meantime, investigating and assessing the right to financial assistance. We work in an engaged and non-hierarchical team where we help each other, share our knowledge, and support one another.

Our workdays are varied and involve a lot of contact with both individuals in need of financial assistance and other authorities, healthcare, and the municipality's labor market department. We place great emphasis on client-oriented work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a social work degree or other education that the employer considers equivalent. To succeed in the job, you need to have good knowledge of the Social Services Act. The job requires that you have good oral and written skills in Swedish.

We would like you to have experience of financial assistance or other public authority work. If you have training in Motivational Interviewing (MI), this is seen as an advantage.

You are self-reliant and take responsibility for your cases by structuring your work yourself and driving processes forward in the handling. You plan, organize, and prioritize effectively, which contributes to legally secure decisions and keeping timeframes. You are resilient and maintain motivation and focus even in complex and demanding situations, and you continue working until results are achieved.

You have good empathetic ability and can put yourself in individuals' different life situations without losing your professional approach, which creates trust in the meeting with clients. At the same time, you are service-oriented and meet people calmly, sensitively, and respectfully, with a clear desire to support and guide. You work structured and carefully, which ensures quality in documentation, assessments, and follow-up.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.

In your application, you must state your citizenship. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, which is required according to the Aliens Ordinance.
