Production Engineer for Hot Forging – RZ Pressmetall

RZ Pressmetall is a mechanical workshop that is part of the RZ Group. The RZ Group consists of 17 different mechanical workshops within various areas of expertise. RZ Pressmetall's operations focus primarily on the hot forging of aluminum components and serve as a contract manufacturer for several companies in, among others, the defense industry and general workshop industries. Our machine fleet includes screw and hydraulic presses with pressing forces ranging from 150 to 2500 tons, heat treatment furnaces, pickling facilities, and an in-house materials laboratory.
The company is in an expansion phase and is therefore looking for an engaged and driven Production Engineer who will serve as the technical expert in our processes. In this role, you will be a key person in developing and optimizing our manufacturing processes to ensure high quality, efficient production, and a good working environment. You will work closely with production and contribute technical support, improvement work, quality requirements, and the implementation of new solutions in our forging process.
We work with the most common control systems and use CAD for tool design. As our business system, we use Monitor. The company is certified according to ISO 9001/14001/45001.
Responsibilities
- Optimize and improve processes within hot forging
- Monitor and improve quality in the hot forging process
- Work with tools (forging tools) – design, improvement, and lifespan optimization
- Participate in the development and adjustment of forging tools
- Troubleshoot production problems such as cracking, material defects, and dimensional deviations
- Create and update work instructions, develop work methods, and process documentation
- Work with quality issues and collaborate with quality assurance, maintenance, and production to resolve daily operational disruptions and ensure products meet drawings, standards, and customer requirements
- Perform and analyze measurements, testing, and controls
- Follow up on and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Support and provide service to production on technical matters
Personal Attributes
We believe you are structured and meticulous, analytical, and solution-oriented. You are proactive and driven, hands-on with a strong technical interest and high quality awareness. You should have good communication and collaboration skills. You should be able to determine the necessary operational steps for the best possible process from a drawing and possess good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Qualifications
- Technical education (e.g., Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science)
- Good understanding of materials science and heat treatment
- Experience in manufacturing industry, preferably within forging or metalworking.
- Knowledge of reading drawings and measurement technology
- Experience in quality work and quality issues, for example, to prepare 8D reports
- Good understanding of production engineering and process development
- Experience in improvement work (LEAN or similar) is meritorious
- Documented education in CAD design in AutoCAD/Inventor or SolidWorks is meritorious
Previous experience with production control in Monitor will be an advantage.
