Job Scope

Lyten is seeking a Production Engineer with a specialization in automated industrial (battery) production. As a Production Engineer (Pilot Production), you will stabilize, scale, and continuously improve pilot-line processes spanning electrode manufacturing, cell assembly, and formation & aging. Your mission is to translate cell designs and lab recipes into robust, traceable processes ready for industrialization at Northvolt gigafactories. You will work closely with production, process, quality, and automation engineers to ensure the production process achieves the required stability and is ready for transfer to gigafactory scale. You will ensure that processes and equipment meet availability and reliability standards and resolve production issues with a sense of urgency.

Key Responsibilities

Overall areas of responsibility and activities

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Own selected production steps on the pilot line across Wet- and Dry Electrode, Assembly, and Formation & Aging processes. Define, monitor, and improve Operation Parameter Ranges and control windows suitable for lab pilot productions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define production system requirements, select suitable hardware and software, and create robust solutions for production lines.
  • Follow data-driven production control methods, implementing SPC on CtQs (Critical to Quality) and MSAs to ensure capability prior to scale-up.
  • Work with IT and Automation teams to implement necessary dashboards for OEE, FPY, scrap, and downtime with Pareto charts and trends to facilitate progress tracking and root cause analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain Process Flow, PFMEA, and work instructions as preparation for pilot productions.
  • Partner with Safety & Environment to validate process changes against standard requirements.
  • Own root-cause analysis on equipment and process performance improvements during A- and B-sample productions, following structured RCA methods.
  • Work hands-on with Cell Design, Materials, Maintenance & Automation, Supply Chain, and Operations on fast learning cycles and problem solving to increase production process maturity.
  • Review Engineering Design Documentation (Specifications, Design for Manufacturability).
  • Support and collaborate with project teams to select the most proficient equipment suppliers from an automation perspective.
  • Be responsible for the acceptance of Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) of equipment upon commissioning completion.
  • Organize and participate in internal training and workshops.
  • Perform cost estimations for projects and change requests. Provide input for quoting, planning works, and change orders.
