About the Role

Do you want a meaningful job where you can make a real difference for both society and the energy transition? Here, you are part of a societal-critical operation with exciting projects, cutting-edge technology, and colleagues who value each other.

We are now looking for several experienced Automation and Communications Engineers who want to help build the maintenance operations of the future!

We are facing one of Vattenfall Eldistribution's largest investments ever – a historic mobilization to build a stronger, more resilient, and entirely independent capability in maintenance and repair. In a time when the external environment places increasingly high demands on robustness and durability, we are taking decisive steps to secure a power grid that can withstand harsh conditions and deliver when needed most.

Responsibilities and Tasks

We are now seeking Automation and Communications Engineers who want to strengthen our technical department. We offer you a free and responsible role where you help ensure a safe and modern infrastructure in our facilities across the country. Here you will have excellent opportunities for both technical deepening and personal development in the role.

On the Technology & Control Plant Department, approximately 50 engineers work with specialist competence in automation, communications, control equipment, and design. Here you will meet colleagues who are passionate about technology, are happy to share their knowledge, and take great responsibility for both quality and safety.

Your Role as Automation and Communications Engineer

  • Participate in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of automation and communications equipment.
  • Participate in projects for the conversion and new construction of automation and communications solutions, and ensure the implementation of new, ongoing projects within the area.
  • Be involved in design, material procurement, construction, implementation, installation, and commissioning.
  • Handle supplier and contractor contacts.

Our work takes place in environments that sometimes involve high altitudes and potential risks, which means that safety and risk awareness are always at the center. At the same time, our daily life is characterized by collaboration, problem-solving, and the opportunity to work close to the technology that keeps Sweden's power grid running. Travel is a natural part of the work, mostly during the day, but overnight trips also occur.

Requirements

Our way of working is characterized by freedom under responsibility, and as a person, you are therefore driven to take on challenges, solve problems, and achieve set goals. Since you will have contact with both internal and external contacts, we are looking for you who are service-oriented and enjoy working both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues.

In addition to your personal qualities, we would like you to have:

  • An education in telecommunications, automation, or power engineering, or equivalent practical experience assessed by the employer as equivalent.
  • A few years of experience working in telecommunications, automation, or power engineering.
  • Experience with technology such as optical fiber and radio-based communication, e.g., 4G and radio links, station bus-based networks according to the IEC61850 standard, and IP-based networks.

You express yourself easily in both Swedish and English, in writing and speech. A B driving license is a requirement.

Additional merits we value:

  • Experience from the power industry.
  • Experience in previously leading projects or work, preferably as a project manager, or alternatively work experience as a coordinator within the industry.
  • Practical experience in operating and configuring remote control and control equipment, e.g., RTUs and relay protection.

Additional Information

We offer an exciting workday and a good work-life balance at an attractive workplace with good opportunities for development. We work in a safe and motivating work environment, with a strong and positive culture characterized by care for everyone. To ensure you thrive, we offer opportunities for continuous learning, good working conditions, and a wide range of employee benefits - Read more about our benefits here (#).
