- Lead Project Owner for Kiruna's City Transformation
Lead Project Owner for Kiruna's City Transformation
TB-Group ABNorrbottens län, Kiruna
Previous experience is desired
Do you want to take the next step in your career and become a key figure in one of Sweden's most spectacular urban development projects?
Kiruna is in the midst of an unprecedented city transformation – an entire city is being moved and rebuilt from scratch. This involves complex land issues, strategic decision-making, and the opportunity to work on projects that typically only occur once a century. We are now looking for a Lead Project Owner who wants to step into a central role and contribute experience, a holistic perspective, and stability as we develop the Kiruna of the future.
Here, you will work closely with decision-makers, influence long-term urban development issues, and help lead projects that will leave a mark for generations to come. If you are looking for major challenges and the opportunity to be involved in the planning and implementation of a societal transformation, Kiruna is where your skills truly make a difference.
Why Kiruna?
Kiruna offers something that few other places in Sweden can match:
- One of the country's most extensive urban development projects
- Stunning surroundings – from midnight sun and northern lights to mountains, nature, and outdoor life
- Space, proximity, and balance – distances are short and everyday life is simpler here
About the Role
As the Lead Project Owner for municipal infrastructure projects, you also serve as the Portfolio Manager. You will be one of those ensuring that the societal transformation projects become reality – from early stages to implementation. You will work both strategically and operationally, and:
- Lead the ongoing coordination of the project portfolio on behalf of the Portfolio Owner (the Municipal Director).
- Prepare matters for the Portfolio Steering Group, maintaining the portfolio's overall vision, dependencies, priorities, reporting, follow-up, risks, and deviations.
- Ensure that main projects and sub-projects work towards the goals of the development plan.
- Have the mandate to coordinate, request documentation, initiate preparation, suggest priorities, propose start, pause, or restart, and escalate issues to the Portfolio Owner or Portfolio Steering Group.
- Act as the engine and holistic carrier of the portfolio. Work proactively, identify goal conflicts early, reduce duplicate work, and create synergies between main projects, sub-projects, and assignments.
Here, you will be part of a department with short decision-making paths, significant responsibility, and engaged colleagues within urban planning.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is confident, experienced, and curious – someone accustomed to driving complex development processes and eager to continue developing.
We believe you have:
- A relevant university degree, e.g., in construction and civil engineering, land surveying, urban planning, or similar
- Documented experience in development projects and/or municipal land management
- Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders and building trusting relationships
- The ability to work independently, structured, and solution-oriented
Previous experience working in a politically governed organization is considered an advantage.
What we offer
- Meaningful work where you influence the development of an entirely new city
- A pleasant work environment with engaged colleagues
- Good work-life balance
- Free gym membership up to 5,000 SEK/year
- Access to the municipality's mountain cabins
- Opportunity for salary exchange for extra days off
- An inclusive work climate where respect, responsibility, and collaboration are key values
Do you want to help shape the next chapter in Kiruna's history?
Apply now – and welcome to a workplace where your work truly makes a difference.
