We are currently seeking Physical Education teachers to strengthen our team and contribute to making Västerås a leading educational city. As a teacher here, you create good habits and ensure our students have the right conditions to achieve their goals. Through activities such as ghost ball games, floorball, and outdoor days, you inspire joy in movement and lifelong health.
Your responsibilities
You plan and conduct modern and creative teaching. You find strategies to reach every student and strengthen their development, both academically and socially. By leading and motivating your students, you create a safe environment where they dare to explore their physical abilities and develop a healthy lifestyle.
You emphasize the importance of regular physical activity and help students understand how it contributes to their well-being and performance in school. By adapting teaching to individual needs, you ensure every student has the opportunity to grow.
You plan, conduct, and evaluate pedagogical work together with your colleagues based on the school's guidelines. Together, you work for a good learning and working environment, and you actively participate in the school's development work.
Current vacancies
Vacancies are updated continuously. Start date: Autumn term 2026, unless otherwise stated.
- Herrgärdskolan: Temporary position, period 2026-08-03 to 2027-06-16.
- Irstaskolan (Year 7-9): 50% position in Physical Education and 50% in another subject (Social Studies, Swedish, or English).
- Irstaskolan (Year 7-9): Temporary position, period 2026-08-10 to 2026-12-18, plus two lessons per week in Year 3.

Your qualifications
You are a certified teacher with eligibility in Physical Education for primary school. Additional subject eligibility is an advantage. You are comfortable using compensatory aids and see digital tools as a natural part of your teaching.
With secure pedagogical leadership, engagement, and clarity, you create participation, trust, and good cooperation with students, guardians, and colleagues. You are structured, plan, and prioritize your work, while flexibly adapting teaching to students' needs. Collaboration is a natural part of your work.

Recruitment process
We have a central and common recruitment process for teachers in primary school. Positions are filled continuously based on school needs. When you submit your application, you have the opportunity to express interest in specific schools. If you proceed to an interview, you can visit the schools that match the current need.
If you are not a trained teacher, your application may be forwarded to principals with vacant fixed-term positions.
If you already work as a teacher in our schools but wish to change units, you need to apply here, but you do not need to go through the entire recruitment process.

Before employment, you must provide a clean certificate of conduct from the police.
During the interview, you must prove your citizenship (passport or personal ID document). If you are not a citizen of Sweden, EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must provide a valid work permit or exemption from the requirement to have a work permit.
